Trendy Vegan: Houston's Plant-Based Paradise
Forget everything you think you know about vegan food. Trendy Vegan in Houston, Texas, is blowing the doors wide open on what plant-based cuisine can be, and let me tell you, it's mind-blowing!
I recently had the pleasure of dining there with my wife and children, and we opted for the full Trendy Vegan experience: the buffet, the spicy dumplings, the smoothies, the drinks, and even the ramen (because why not?). Each dish was a symphony of flavors and textures, a testament to the creativity and skill of the chefs.
The buffet was a revelation. Imagine a vibrant spread of colorful salads, hearty stews, and tempting stir-fries, all bursting with fresh, seasonal ingredients. I piled my plate high with noodles, friesld rice, egg rolls, edamame, hot and sour soup, salt and pepper tofu and each bite was a party in my mouth.
But the buffet was just the beginning. The spicy dumplings were little parcels of heaven, filled with savory mushroom and tofu and bathed in a chili oil that had me reaching for my water (and then dipping again, because I couldn't resist!). The smoothies (vitality and feeling good) were thick and luscious, packed with vitamins and antioxidants, and the perfect way to cool down after all that spice. And the drinks, oh the drinks! We tried the Thai tea which was without a doubt the best thai tea ive ever had.
And then there was the ramen. Oh, the ramen! Rich, savory broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and a generous pile of vegetables that made my soul sing. It was the kind of ramen that warms you from the inside out, perfect for a chilly Houston night.
But beyond the food, what truly makes Trendy Vegan special is the atmosphere and the people. The restaurant is bright and airy, with colorful murals and great décor that puts a smile on your face. And the staff? They are the absolute best. Friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about vegan food, they made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we walked in.
Trendy Vegan is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's a place where you can indulge in delicious, innovative food, surrounded by good vibes and good people. If you're looking for a dining experience that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you feeling happy and healthy, look no further than Trendy Vegan. You won't be disappointed!
P.S. Don't forget to try the desserts! We shared a rainbow cup and it was pure heaven in a cup.
I can't wait to go back and explore more of Trendy Vegan's menu. This is a Houston gem that deserves all the praise it...
Read moreI had a friend who is vegan stop in town for an overnight layover and found this place to try out. I read thru reviews. All recent reviews were sparkling, but older reviews were mostly negative.
I was so impressed. The food looks like the recent pictures and tastes even better.
We walked in Monday evening around 6:30, warmly greeted immediately. There were 3 or 4 other couples eating there, and 3 other pick up only orders while we were there. They let us know the typical mobile ordering system was down and they'd take our order the traditional way.
We had the fried mushrooms appetizer. It was about 12 pieces and came with a delicious sauce that tasted like it may have had been Wasabi based, though not spicy, just had a little kick to it. We ended up asking for a second sauce because it was so delicious.
Our entrees came out promptly and hot.
I ate the General Tso's tofu bento box. 10/10. Vegetables cooked perfectly. A good amount of sauce & tofu. Dan Dan noodles were new to both of us. Served cold in very creamy sauce. I think it may have been basil, so it added a hint of sweetness to the meal. Spring roll had a good crispy shell. Kale salad was tender and I think served with the same sauce as the fried mushrooms. Portions large enough for me to save half for the next day.
She had the Garlic Sauce Eggplant bento box. I can't decide whose meal was my favorite. The sauce was magnificent. Also great portion size.
All in all, I highly recommend. Even if you're not vegan, but just interested in trying...
Read moreI recently ordered from this restaurant and had a mix of experiences. I got fried mushrooms, lo mein, pan-fried dumplings, sesame balls, and vegan Thai tea. Overall, I’m giving it 3 stars, but there were a few disappointments.
First, the fried mushrooms. I’m not sure why, but I was expecting a different type of mushroom, not portobello. The mushrooms absorbed so much oil, I squeezed one of the mushrooms and soooo much oil came out of it, it was kind of gross. I don’t think they should use whole portobello mushrooms for this dish, or if they do, maybe a different cooking method to reduce the oil. Also it lacked flavor, the mushroom literally had no favor!!!!!!!!!!! The fried mushrooms came with wasabi sauce on the side, I personally don’t like wasabi at all.
The vegan Thai tea was also a letdown. It could definitely be improved, especially with a better coconut milk. The one they used wasn’t the greatest and it affected the overall taste
On the positive side, the lo mein had great flavor, and I really enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings, which were made with veggies—such a nice touch! The sesame balls were delicious too.
Next time, I think I’ll try the buffet to get a wider variety of dishes. I didn’t feel like I got the most out of my money by ordering individually, but I would still consider going back and giving the place...
