I've been a lifelong fan of racing in general, especially sim-racing, since I booted up Gran Turismo for the first time in the late 90s.
You can imagine my anticipation and surprise when in 2024 I saw ads that a sim racing bar was about to open in Houston.
I've been to a lot of "sim-racing" bar/restaurant establishments over the years and almost all of them drop the ball in some way with one or more of these 3 pillars: Food, cocktails, or sim-racing.
Usually only 2/3 are done well and the sim-racing isn't one of them. You need all 3 to be successful with sim-racers and casual fans of motorsports.
I showed up to Velocity in the first 2 weeks of business and they have SOLIDLY surprassed all expectations for the food (taquitos and the chicken meatballs are the best), cocktails (try the Green Hell, you'll thank me), and the sim-racing (the Ultimate rig truly feels like you are in a real race car) since day 1!
But they added a fourth pillar which I've not seen any other motorsports bar do so far: community.
I came for the sim-racing to figure out what I want to upgrade with my home setups, I stayed for the community.
Velocity hosts multiple open racing events for the community, from sprint racing, time trials, and endurance races with teams. They are all worth attending as a spectator and even if you think you won't be fast enough, join us anyway: you WILL get better just by being a part of the community the team at Velocity is building here.
The owner, Viet, and staff are incredibly engaged with the community and their customers, both casual and hardcore alike, which goes a long way for building great customer relationships and lasting business.
I cannot recommend enough to try out Velocity, bring the kids or your partner and enjoy a night of racing together!
You've got a loyal customer in me and I am telling all of my friends and family to drop by here and explore what motorsports is all about: racing with the people you care about and experiencing the thrills of incredible racing machines.
10 stars from me and I'm proud to be part of the community at Velocity. Can't wait to see it grow to...
Read moreAs a former driver in WKA, SCCA, and PCA—and a lifelong car and F1 enthusiast—I can confidently say that Velocity Sim Racing is simply incredible. The venue itself is a work of art, with immersive lighting shaped like iconic racetracks and a stunning layout of 16 fully linked racing rigs. It immediately pulls you into the experience.
When it comes to sim racing, their three premium setup options are top-tier. I highly recommend the Pro setup—it offers an incredibly realistic driving feel without the motion sickness that sometimes comes with VR. I also tried the Ultimate rig, which was phenomenal, but as someone who's 6'7", the seat adjustments were a bit limited for me. Still, both rigs are expertly designed and seriously fun to drive.
I especially love the special events they host, which bring the racing community together in a safe, competitive, and welcoming environment. It’s a great way to meet other motorsport lovers and scratch that racing itch.
To top it off, the food is surprisingly good and reasonably priced, which makes it easy to stay for hours.
I’m already planning to go at least once a month—it’s just that much fun. Velocity Sim Racing doesn’t just meet expectations—it feeds the...
Read moreBooked a one hour session with 3 friends back in mid April. First race went fine, everything worked as expected. Their servers crashed for us immediately after the first race and we sat in the chairs for 20 minutes with no explanation of what happened or what to expect for the rest of our slot except for “our servers are down”. Finally the servers come back up with 10 minutes left and we are booted into a practice session that kept repeating every couple of minutes.
At the end of our allotted hour time slot the game shuts off. We approached the desk and ask why didn’t we get to start a second race. Their response was, “We have other people booked for the next hour, we don’t give make up time”
While I understand that there is a schedule to uphold, it would’ve been nice for them to AT LEAST inform us as soon as an issue arose that we won’t be able to race again due to the server crashing. Seeing as it’s not our fault that their servers crashed it would’ve been nice if they offered us a way to come back for another 30 minutes at a later date but at the very least keep us in the loop about how your servers down affects the rest of our time.
Left with a very sour taste because of how...
