I decided to take my children to waffle house in Hueytown. We immediately go in and see a table and sit down. Another white family comes in and sits down right after us. A white couple comes in after them. A black couple after him and a single white man after them. Well guess who were the last ones to be served everything. On top of that i had to get up and ask for most of what i needed. The black couple ended up leaving and complained that they were there before the single white man which they were. On top of that when I would go up there to ask for anything, I was ignored by my waitress but when it came time to pay she was on it!!! Who does that? And they probably wonder why we dont tip but its not because of who and what I am but its because of the service I received. Im actually an overly generous tipper. Greg was nice enough to step in and help and even said holler at me and the manager before you leave to take something off your bill. Im thinking after all of that and finding hair in our food that it should be free. My bill came to $41 and some change. He says ok $37 instead. I was like wait you are only taking off $4 after all of that and hair. He says oh well no one told me about hair. So then he recalculates everything to come to $30.40 instead. I didnt go there for a free meal or a handout but if u saw with your own eyes that there was a problem before me even having to say anything then why not do what you can to make it a better experience for us. My teens badly wanted to leave but we stuck it out in hopes that it would get better. Unfortunately, it didnt. I wont be going back. Simply ridiculous and I never did get to speak with a manager as Greg stated. I wonder if he even knows...
Read moreI never thought that I would be leaving a bad review for this establishment because I come here every other day and there are good waitresses here like Sara and Robyn. However, I just left there and I was the only person there which means my food should have been great as always. When I placed my order with the server she was very sweet but the short dark man who was the cook wanted to make jokes and not pay attention to nothing that the server has said when she called my order he fixed my food and she brought the plate over and asked me. Was it correct? I simply said No. She took it back over there to him And asked for him to correct it. He wanted to hold my food up asking the server did I know what my food look like and all of this stuff spitting all over my food while he talking and was frustrated because he had to fix it again.
I am pregnant so to see and hear someone be so disrespectful towards me I am saddened by this. He said to the Server "H$ if she wants it light so bad she needs to go home and make it herself!!" So before he can even get started I simply said tell him never mind. I don't even want none of it no more not the service, Not the food, Nothing. I have not seen that Cook before But if that is how he talk to people on a regular, I surely would not be coming back to this location ever again in which I am. One of the nurses that work right at the facility close by and I brought plenty of business there. But yeah I surely will not allow myself to do...
Read moreWhile visiting Alabama I quickly realized that Waffle House is a southern staple. There wasn’t a major street you turned down that didn’t have a WH glistening with all its delicious might. And let me tell you, it was surely worth a visit.
Service is glorious here! The waitresses serve you from behind a large counter that spreads across all booths. Our waitress was plenty friendly and was even economical suggesting ways we could take advantage of the many specials while still getting everything our little heart desired.
I settle upon a waffle, some eggs and hash browns. This place is big on the pork so they didn’t have chicken sausage but I was full off what I ordered. The waffle, possibly the best part of the meal was super buttery, thin enough to infuse wonderfully with the syrup without getting too soggy, and of course more than enough to devour. You can order the waffle with all types of options, pecans/strawberries etc., but the plain Jane waffle was yummy enough without all the extras. Hash browns can be ordered the same way with a variety of toppings but I choose to get those as is and they were amazing, nice level of salt and crispiness! You can’t really mess up eggs and WH didn’t disappoint!
Above all else the food is super affordable. Certainly a must try if you are visiting and a great place to take tourist. There were quite a bit of patrons so I am sure it’s fairly popular...
