A Soulful Feast at "This Is It" - An Unforgettable Soul Food Experience
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My recent visit to "This Is It," a soul food restaurant, left me completely satisfied and craving for more. The line was long but I completely understand why!! And I arrived 1 hour before closing on a Sunday. I also noticed they have the yummy box so ordering take out will be a breeze!! So now that I know the process they have I’ll be ordering ahead of time to skip the line.
I ordered the smothered chicken, yams, macaroni and cheese and cabbage….
Let me start by raving about their smothered chicken. The tender, succulent chicken smothered in a rich, savory gravy was absolutely divine. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the combination of herbs and spices had me in culinary heaven. Paired with a side of perfectly cooked yams, this dish was the ultimate comfort food delight.
The cabbage, a beloved soul food staple, was cooked to perfection. It retained a pleasant crunch while still being tender and packed with the right amount of seasoning. The balance of flavors was impeccable, providing a delightful contrast to the other dishes on my plate.
Now, let's talk about the macaroni and cheese – a true soul food masterpiece. The silky smooth cheese sauce coated each noodle perfectly. With a delectable blend of cheeses, this side dish was everything I ever wanted in mac and cheese including some brown cheese from the top layer!! Creamy, cheesy, and utterly indulgent, it left my taste buds dancing with joy.
Beyond the amazing food, the service at "This Is It" was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about providing a memorable dining experience. From the moment I walked in until the time I left, I felt like a valued guest and was well taken care of. The staff remembered my husband, who has been coming regularly for the last couple of weeks.
The attention to detail and commitment to quality were evident throughout my visit. The presentation of each dish was impeccable, and the portion sizes were generous. The menu at "This Is It" showcases a wide range of soul food classics, ensuring that every guest can find their preferred comfort food and satisfy their cravings.
As a soul food enthusiast, I can confidently say that "This Is It" has earned its well-deserved reputation. The genuine flavors, authentic cooking techniques, and remarkable service create an unparalleled dining experience. Whether you're a seasoned soul food lover or new to the cuisine, "This Is It" will exceed your expectations and leave you craving for more.
I cannot recommend "This Is It" highly enough. With their incredible smothered chicken, delectable sides like yams, cabbage, and mac and cheese, this soul food haven truly lives up to its name. Prepare to indulge in the flavors of tradition and experience soulful bliss like never before!!
Well done This is it...
Read moreI was excited to try it out. We visited on a Sunday around noon. When we arrived, the line was pretty long. We waited in line for 50 min to reach the counter to order. I ordered fried fish, dressing, mac and cheese, and yams. The fish would've probably been great if it were fresh. They were down to the last pieces when I ordered it. I wasn't impressed with the yams or dressing. The yams needed a little more flavor for me. My husband ordered the smothered pork chops, greens, yams, and rice w/ gravy. They had run out of pork chops so we had to wait for them. However, we couldn't understand why they put his food container in a white paper bag and handed it to us. We were thinking, "shouldn't the pork chop be with the rice?" He said that the pork chops were pretty good. Overall assessment: don't come on a Sunday during lunch time unless you aren't hungry and have plenty of time to wait. We felt like cafeteria style service should be much faster.
Just a little piece of advice for the owners: come up with better logistics for Sundays especially during peak time. Possible suggestions: have dine-in customers sit down and be waited on and leave the line for to-go orders. It seemed like most of the people in front of us were getting food to go. OR Place the most popular items on the line in abundance and let people wait on the less popular items. I think the line would move much faster if the line was stocked more readily before an item actually runs out. I also see that it takes longer to restock the line because the kitchen is so far away vs. at other restaurants. At most restaurants, the kitchen is near the serving line. The food has to be loaded up from the kitchen and wheeled to the line in a warmer then unloaded. I can see logistics weren't really considered when designing the layout of the restaurant. It's really frustrating to wait in line that long and still have to...
Read moreI've been coming sense they were on west gray near downtown and still location on Blodgett, Ms. Georgette is my friend on Facebook I always keep her posted on service, I love the place, the staff was very welcoming, there were two ladies seem to be in charge of the floor they were doing a great job my time in line I observed the staff everyone was on point there was one staff member dancing and distracting one of the servers on the line " light skinned bearded guy with a Tattoo on his neck but the lady put a end to that she told him that there was a customer needing help and got him from behind the line. The portion size on the meatloaf was great the young gentleman "lefthanded " portion size on my veggies were a little on the weak portion size , the cashier was very nice smooth checkout, I saw a few Caucasian people in line so I'm thinking this is the only soulfood restaurant in the area so the Research team did a great job in picking the location FM 1960 is a busy area so business should do very well, I will still go to blodgett location again everything was run very professional today the staff seem excited to be at the location , I would like to say transporting food in warmers to the front is a good idea. Oh the parking customers will need to park in lot Adjacent to restaurant, as a reminder credit card or debit only they have a sign at door and at the counter...the meatloaf was a little tough not the same texture as other location seems like something was altered the recipe, the yams I could taste the Cinnamon but they were mushy at 11:15AM so that means they cooked them to much before putting them on the steam table, cornbread was soft that's a plus..all in all doing well just work on the meatloaf taste was off just a little, it has been a staple for the other...
