I was from out of town and found this restaurant from a Google search. This cozy building is nestled in a small town, that is attached to other establishments. I had no issues with parking and parked up front. I assume more parking was located in the back as there was only fee free street parking, which was nice. There was a large singular step to get into the door. Hardwood floors greet you as you step into the restaurant. I was greeted almost immediately by a friendly staff member who made some small talk as I was seated. The environment is that of an old Italian style, mixed with modern feel. A small, intimate room holds table style seating which was a nice change from the typical booths you see now days. The table was set with the basic salt/pepper and parmasean. A small lamp was also on each table and had a touch setting that allowed you to dim the lighting to your preference. This was a nice intimate touch. As I looked around the room, old pictures and ads (maybe 1920's or older) graced the walls. A high ceiling, allowed for beautiful lighting to hang throughout. I was handed a menu and was given a brief guide of what they offered. A large black wall displayed the "off the grill" items and prices. The waitress explained the daily special and gave me time to make my selection. The prices on the menu were fair for the pasta and offered higher priced item for ribeye and lobster 🦞 tail. There was a nice drink menu on the opposite that was as large as the dinner choices. The waitress returned with some baguette style bread and butter and took my order. Others patrons entered the building but only to pick up to go orders. I had the room to myself. My food arrived in a timely fashion and I was checked on several times throughout my meal. My drink was never empty and even other members checked on me though my meal. The staff is incredible 👏. They were friendly and attentive. I was offered a to go box and cup to take a drink with me. Overall this was a great experience, a great meal, and wonderful service. The owner should be very proud of the staff that this establishment has, as the were exceptional. If you have an opportunity check out Mama T's as I assure you that you will not be...
Read moreWas looking forward to dinner here but the experience was underwhelming. With that said, nice staff, checked up on us a lot, and it was a cute atmosphere.
Only $13 for a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs should have been a warning (gluttonous-sized portion with meatballs for only $13 = poor quality). Wife's Fettuccine Alfredo was so-so. The pasta (noodles) tasted over-cooked and cheap. They recommended steak a couple of times over pasta, but we were just in a pasta mood, so maybe the steak is good.
I actually appreciated having paper napkins (though perhaps odd for some looking for a nicer dining experience). I was turned off, however, when they handed us our silverware rolled up in half-wet napkins...kind of a rookie mistake in a restaurant.
All in all, I would recommend the following: Invest in better-quality pasta (i.e., the spaghetti noodles). The meat sauce was good, so why ruin it with the pasta? Offset these costs with smaller portion sizes (people don't want to take food to go and don't want to toss it)...and you admitted that not many people finish it anyway, so what's the point? Ensure hands are dry when handing over silverware in paper napkins. Dim the lights a little—the mood, especially around the holidays, would be beautiful and provide a more upscale feel. When you think Italian or more upscale restaurants, they're never completely lit with...
Read moreCame in for the first time for wife’s birthday dinner. Quaint atmosphere and welcoming. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had the king cut ribeye steak, medium. Just a tad over medium, but no complaint. Best steak I’ve had in the region (not just county). It was not just flavorful but also tender. Asparagus side was excellent. I added mushrooms on the steak for $3 - got about 25 cents worth, very good, but skimpy for the money. Pre dinner salad was very good - our waiter said they hand chop it themselves and it reflects in the salad - everyone’s salad went down fast. Wife had Eggplant Parmesan. Side choices for that is fettuccine or spaghetti with Alfredo or red meat sauce. She didn’t want either, but went with the fettuccine and meat sauce. When it came out the side portion was larger then the eggplant portion. She said the eggplant was really good though it was fried rather than baked in the sauce and cheese. That’s ok, but she prefers baked. She didn’t really eat much of the fettuccine but said it had hardly any meat sauce on it for a big half plate of noodles. The others in our party all said the food was really good also. Desert was good and the staff sang happy birthday to the wife and many other customers joined in. We had a damn fine experience. We will definitely go again. All in all, very good and best ribeye steak in Dubois county, but...
