I’ve tried Mama’s on 39 on a few occasions but it was always for pick up orders. The food was very subpar for my first time. I believe my whole family didn’t really enjoy their meals either but we decided to give it another chance and did another take out order. That time was better, I believe I got their cheeseburger sliders with the side of chips. No complaints there!
Yesterday was my first time dining in at Mama’s, I arrived with my son and husband. We had a short wait but were seated within 5-10 minutes. They did have live entertainment for the night, which was a nice vibe for it only being a Wednesday night. Usually live entertainment is more of a weekend thing but we appreciated it. I will say that the restaurant was pretty loud, not even including the gentleman singing. But louder than a normal restaurant so if you don’t like the loud scene then probably skip this place.
Our waitress was great! She was very attentive and made sure to check in on us. We did have an issue towards the end of our visit but she was good with handling it.
As for food, my son got the I love Lucy mac and Cheetos with the Cheeto dust on the side, my husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I got the burger sliders with 2 pulled pork sliders, 1 cheeseburger slider and 1 Buffalo chicken slider. They did allow for an upgrade of garlic Parmesan fries, which my husband and I gladly upgraded to.
My son said he liked his mac and cheese at first but then slowly didn’t like it (whatever that means in 9 year old talk haha). I did try a bite and will say that it wasn’t as cheesy as it looked so I understood why he didn’t want to take it home after only eating half the meal. My husband said he liked the pulled pork sandwich and the garlic Parmesan fries so that was a win! He’s not too picky when it comes to food though. As for me, I did enjoy the sliders but the cheeseburger one was very dry. It only had the meat patty and cheese, no other toppings. Same thing for the Buffalo chicken slider. It would be nice if there was some kind of sauce or condiment to go with the sliders. Nonetheless, I did enjoy them but they could have been better.
They did forget that i upgraded my fries to garlic Parmesan and only sent out regular salted fries. But our waitress was great and had it fixed right away! Just a short wait and I got a fresh side of garlic fries. Very hot but very delicious!
Both my husband and I really liked their strawberry lemonade as well. It actually tasted like a gummy worm to me but I wasn’t complaining, I loved it!
One of the only negatives during our experience was the wait time for ice cream. We all wanted ice cream for dessert but for whatever reason it took a good 15-20 minutes to arrive. So much so that our waitress said she had to scoop it herself since they were taking so long. She did give an extra scoop for us all so I was very appreciative of that! But definitely wasn’t too happy with waiting that long for simple ice cream.
Overall we spent around $100 for two adults and a child. All got main course meals and ice cream for dessert. I do think their prices are a bit high but that’s what you get in this economy and especially in OC!
I did enjoy the vibe of the restaurant though and the food isn’t bad....

Quality gone bad! Our third time here. We went during lunch. The place is so popular so there is a waiting list of 20 minutes. We invited two of our friends and it is their first time. I made our reservations via Yelp and unfortunately my name was automatically taken out of the waitlist. I had to go back to the host to let her know. She put my name in again so we waited the second time. Again I got a notification that my name was taken out of the list. I went back to the host; she spoke to her manager who spoke to me that she will take care of our reservation. Thanks to her we got our table she personally arranged the tables herself. Great service from this wonderful manager! We proceeded with our orders including a dog dinner of beef and vegetables for small puppy. When the orders arrived, my dog's dinner order of beef & vegetables where so small only had small portions of beef, a few slices of carrots and some small broccoli pls see the picture of my dog's dinner served in a togo box; maybe the run out of dog plates. My wife ordered Ceasar's Chicken salad (her usual) she noticed there were less chicken no goat cheese no avocado and vinaigrette was not used, she was not happy about it. My wife's friend order Chicken & Waffles but the Chicken was over fried and the chicken inside was so dry. My freind ordered a 10 oz steak medium well and it came in well done. I was so ashamed I asked them if they want their orders redone but they declined. I tried ordering the Tuna Melt with avocados. I hate to say that the it tasted rotten and the fries were not cooked and soggy. I just pretended to like it as I was already ashamed of what has occurred with our friends orders. I paid $153 total plus a $20 tip. I feel that this second time was not as good as our first visit. Maybe because they were busy with all their overflowing customers? And their kitchen could not catch up? I don't think that quality should not suffer.
Previous Review: A great place to bring your dog. They have a menu for them as well. We enjoyed the food that we ordered even our dog enjoyed his dinner plate. Service was great to from our server Eric. Picked up all we wanted. Kitchen was quick on the preparation. Did I mention the servings are huge; enough to bring home and have a second feast. We came in around 3:40 pm so it was happy hour with...
Read moreI had a huge party of 7 people and 4 dogs and luckily we got sat right away (typically this place would have up to a 40 minute wait)! Our server was really accommodating to our big party as well as the dogs and even brought out little water bowls for all of them!!! A+++ for that :) Mama's service was very friendly! I wouldn't say they were the fastest however. I felt like because we were way in the back that they typically forgot about us even though some people ordered bottomless mimosas. That requires the staff to frequently check because you shouldn't let your customer's cups be empty! I found that the case with our table. Our server was really friendly however and frequently apologized since the champagne person wasn't on top of it. Everyone's food came out at the same time but mine and I ordered the simplest thing on the menu too (2 eggs and bacon). I get it tho... our table was a little bit hectic with so much going on. I had to wait until our server checked on our table again before being able to ask him what happened to my breakfast item :( It was ready however they just forgot that it was mine therefore it was just sitting at the kitchen counter says the server. I just ended up munching a little off my sister's plate while getting that situated. Everyone's food orders looked delicious however! I definitely wanted a bite of everyone's but I was only in the mood for a simple traditional breakfast. I got a sip of my sister's guava juice from her mimosa and it was so delicious. One of the reasons why I picked this brunch place for all of us was cuz of the many drinks that they offer. They have so many flavor juices you can pick from for mimosas as well as other tasty drinks like bloody marys and a tequila sunrises. The tequila sunrise was claimed to be really good by my bf. Although some minor bumps at Mama's, I would definitely come back again for some day drinking and good...
