I eat at teppanyaki almost everywhere we travel we think it’s fun to see the different foods and styles of entertainment the chefs have. This location was booked for teppan, they only have 4 tables so reserve them a few days in advance. Presentation…beautiful and appetizing. I did however order off the grill menu. I was not a fan. We had some appetizers and sushi as well. I thought everything had an off taste to it. Almost like it’s a sodium free soy sauce in everything. The filet was a little dry and seamed like no seasoning on the veggies. My son had the sushi dinner, he liked it. Again I had a taste of a roll for an app and it just had a different flavor. Most likely the seaweed that’s used. My husband had the filet and lobster plate. He ate the meat but non of the veggies it was served on, same ones as above. The server was amazing. And the atmosphere was fun. Very very busy restaurant so I’m assuming there’s way better reviews. I have a high standard for these types of restaurants.

Best sushi in OC. Nice decorations. Staff wears kimono and really professional. Definitely recommended

We love coming here and sitting in the bar, having a few Mai Tai’s, a few hand rolls and sashimi. Amy, the bar manager, does an excellent job of seating us and keeping our food coming out in a timely manner. We are not fans of their cut rolls but the octopus is amazing when you ask for it cut very, very thin. With fresh, thin slices of lemon it is awesome. I have not liked it anywhere else but here. The Poorman hand roll is our favorite. Maybe because we don’t like seaweed wraps and this roll uses soy paper instead. Add a few fresh slices of jalapeño and it’s sensational. Their sashimi platter is one of my favorites. Very large platter to share with a friend or two. Their Mai Tai’s are different from the regular cocktail and they will knock you on your butt after a few. Beware! Great dark bar atmosphere and lots of regulars. We enjoy it at least once a month!

The entrance to the restaurant is dark and small with a small bar and teppan area which was full when we arrived with no reservation in January 2020. They offered us a table in the dining room which is nicely decorated in traditional Japanese style. The female servers wear kimonos and suits for the men. As mentioned by other reviewers, the service was very quick and efficient and prices are reasonable. It is a place you want to like but the food is a letdown. The Salmon Teriyaki was disappointing and served with a mushy corn cob and giant pieces of plain broccoli and carrots. The sushi rolls and tempura were nothing special. The food was not interesting or delicious so we don't plan to return. Maybe their raw seafood is better but we don't eat that. They do have a high review rating of 4.7 but I noticed that about 35 of the 4 & 5 star reviews posted in the last 3 months have no pics and over half have no comments so I have to wonder about the validity of...

Matsu's service never disappoints. They're always fast, efficient and friendly. We are genuinely impressed how the service is. Once you arrive and order, your appetizers, salad or soups are on the table within minutes. We have experienced this time and time again. The menu items are great. The food is super flavorful and delicious. The portion compared to price is another reason we love coming. There's always leftovers. I love sitting at the Tappan tables. I must compliment the presentation of the entrees. If you order a boat, wow the assemble is always picture worthy. The restaurant is lively and well maintained. Regardless how busy the restaurant is, they do a great job with turning over tables, cleaning the restaurant and bathrooms. The only struggle is finding parking. The restaurant is located in a smaller shopping center so prepare yourself to stalk people who are walking to their cars. Otherwise, I would rate the restaurant a well...
