Roman’s Mexi-Cali Grill — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

A severely disappointing experience. We ordered a few burritos, a California (sub Al Pastor) and a Bean & Cheese, and a taco kids plate for pick-up. The bean & cheese was stacked directly on top of the Cali, and bagged & wrapped tightly, which may have contributed to the burrito's explosion, but the cali did seem overstuffed as it is. I could tell even before opening it that it wasn't going to be a good time. I could see guacamole, meat and wetness through the wrapper. The tortilla was stuck to the paper and trying to get them apart led to further destruction of the structural integrity of the California burrito. Additionally, the fries were severely undercooked, and the meat was barely flavored and seemed about as fresh as day-old microwaved leftovers. The only satisfactory part of the burrito was that the guacamole seemed fresh, as the color was accurate. The bean & cheese wasn't great, I would expect a primarily smooth consistency, but their beans were on par with freshly heated canned beans. The taco kids plate came with meat only, no cilantro, onions, or lime. They also shorted us a drink. None of the three of us will ever consider going here again. Also, if your salsa was good enough, you wouldn't need to season your chips...

By far the very best place for Mexican food…breakfast, lunch and dinner. We’re from the border of Texas and all of our main dishes were found only here and some others unique to Mexi-Cali. Big parking lot, high chairs for kids, Fantastic food and la mission ballenata and cumbias while we eat. Wife gave me high five and staff was great…best comment would be that our order came almost as fast as we ordered it… no more than 5min. If you come from far away and don’t try there machaca plate or one of there other unique plates here… my opinion is you missed out on a great Mexican food experience. It’s a small place but that’s perfect to maintain cleanliness. Prices are just right, all day long breakfast open menu and big serving helpings. Looking down on this small fantastic Mexican restaurant is putting it like this…there everyday customers are people that live no farther away than 50 feet that own million dollar homes, yachts and God knows what else along long beach…so, that said…I’m humbled to even...

Must Try! They have Beef Birria! It's savory with the Au Jus type of juice smothered all over! Yummmm!

I also love the Shrimp tacos! They literally burst with flavors! Simply amazing!

Carnitas are awesome too! Carne Asada, Chicken, Al Pastor tacos were all my favorites until I tried the Shrimp tacos, Birria tacos! I'm in love!

They're all grreat, but I really highly recommend Shrimp, Birria, Carnitas!

I used to always goto King Taco but I now come here because of Shrimp and Birria!!! I really love King Taco red, green salsas though...

They're very attentive as well. One time, the order was wrong but they made it better. They really make you feel special and comfortable being there; like part of a family.

You need to stop by if you're in the area. They take time to explain and introduce new food items. Always hot fresh food; hot chips too!
