I only heard about this place because of IG. We live in Orange County and there aren't any good Hot Chicken places around here. My fiancé came across their post during an IG search for hot chicken and wanted to drive all the way to NoHo for hot chicken the next day. It was a Friday night and I was already in downtown LA having some cocktails and small bites with a girlfriend and I was still hungry. So I decided to look up Bangin Buns to see how far they were and they were only 20 minutes away. So we decided to drive there for more food. We arrived 30 mins before they closed and only waited in line for 15 minutes. After we placed our order, we waited another 15 minutes for the food. By the time they called our name/number I was very hungry! We ordered 2 tenders platter. One was Spicy and the other was Bangin (spiciest). Well the Bangin wasn't even spicy at all. Nothing like Howlin' Rays or Hattie B's. Even the medium at those two places can be unbearable and cause heartburn! I wasn't sweating up a storm and I didn't need any water. The seasoning they used was delicious and the chicken was tender but the spice level wasn't there. If you like very mild spicy chicken and you're in the area, check this place out. But I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes from beginning to end for this place. The pictures on IG looks delusions, but it tastes like the chicken tenders from Chick-Fil-La with some cajun chili powder. They are also known for their sauce (pink sauce). There's nothing special about it. It's basically a mildly sweet version of In-N-Out's...
Read moreI'll start my review by saying I was excited to try this place since I saw it all over instagram, and it looked legit. I was instantly turned off by 1. lack of parking, and 2. the worker at the front who wasn't friendly at all. No personality, didn't even say hi or get off her phone the entire time. At least go to the back to use your phone, ya know? Not to mention eating your food right there in the front where people pick up their orders. Idk if you washed your hands.
Now for the food. I ordered the two sandwich combo, which was one chicken tender on one bun each (average sizes), and my husband ordered the hot chicken breakfast burrito. The chicken in my sandwiches was chewy, had adequate heat for being "mild" heat level, but the bread tasted good and was soft (not hard). The fries were a good crunch level and had seasoning. The hot honey dipping sauce was runny and not worth it. My husband said the egg in his burrito overpowered the chicken in the burrito, so it was mostly an egg burrito. He ended up eating my fries. I'm guessing the positive reviews are from everyone wanting the free sodas in exchange for the...
Read moreFirst, the food is not bad. I could go back but it’s just ok. Ordered #2, good size portions, sauce could improve flavor but overall it was ok. Now, the reason for my rating and why I’d never go back is their Customer Service. One of the worst places I’ve been in. I arrived and there was 2-3 employees moving some crates or doing stuff and the cashier. None of them greet you, I spent a good minute until someone ask me if they could take my order (during this whole time I was the only customer at the store). Then sat down waited for my food, then got it and started eating. This lady comes in and there’s not a single employee in sight. She waited about 5-6 minutes for someone to come outside to help her, she screamed twice at the top of her lungs “Hello!!!” And still no one in sight. Until she banged on the employee-entrance door when the cashier came back outside to take her order. I really hope the owner sees this review. The place has potential, but with this kind of customer service, it’s...
