I recently had the pleasure of dining at Schooners in Huntington, West Virginia, and let me tell you, it was an absolute gem of a find. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. First things first, let's talk about those chicken tenders. Oh my goodness, they were something else! You could tell they were made with real chicken, and that makes all the difference. You know how most places that have chicken tenders just give you like what seems to be a crispy tender with no chicken in it or barely any chicken in it? That's not this place! They were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Each bite was packed with flavor, and These kids couldn't get enough of them. I've had my fair share of chicken tenders, but these ones at Schooners take the cake. The atmosphere of this place is just incredible. It's located right on the banks of the Ohio River, and the view is simply stunning. As I enjoyed my meal, I couldn't help but glance out at the serene beauty of the river. The whole place had a laid-back vibe, and the music playing in the background, including some Dave Matthews Band classics, just added to the overall relaxing ambiance. It was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a great meal. The service at Schooners was top-notch. The server I had was attentive and really went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and she even provided some excellent recommendations. I felt well taken care of throughout the entire dining experience. Now, let's talk about the steak. I ordered mine cooked medium-well and it was cooked to perfection! The steak was beautifully seared on the outside, and the inside was tender and juicy. The flavors were incredible, and it was evident that a lot of skill and care went into preparing it. It was easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. All in all, Schooners in Huntington, West Virginia, is a true hidden gem. From the real chicken tenders that will blow your mind to the breathtaking riverside location, this place has it all. The laid-back atmosphere and the attentive service make for a truly enjoyable dining experience. And let's not forget the amazing steak that will leave you wanting more. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to pay a visit to Schooners. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Arrived at 6:00 pm on Father Day. My daughter wanted to take me out and we decided we’d try Schooners since it was under new ownership. We stopped eating there before due to poor management. The hostess said it would be an hours wait so we sat at the bar to have a few beers while we waited. The bartender was completely stressed out because they had sold out of pretty much everything. They were completely out of domestic beer and very little liquor. There were 10 people sitting at the bar, including the four of us, but you would have thought there was 50 the way the bartender was acting. She definitely doesn’t handle stress well. I asked for a menu just so I could see what my options were for dinner. She very abruptly indicated we couldn’t order dinner at the bar. Only appetizers. I said ok but never received a menu. Once we got a table, which was almost exactly an hour, we all had water because they didn’t have many other options. My daughter is a vegetarian and there is nothing on their menu for her to eat. She got a salad with cucumbers and tomatoes. She asked for ranch dressing but they were out. I order the grilled chicken dinner and the only option I had for a side was a side salad or fries so I order both. When my dinner came I had a small chicken breast on a large 10 inch plate with nothing else (see attached pic). I told our server I ordered a side salad and fries so she went back to the kitchen and returned with very small, lettuce, cucumber & tomato salad and told me the fries would be out shortly. The chicken was tough & dry. On a positive note, the crab cakes and onion ring we got as an appetizer was very good. Chances are I won’t be back. If they continue like this I don’t see the new owns being around long.

We wanted a nice but different experience for our Anniversary & just chill in between a storm rolling by. We were greeted immediately by a sweet host & sat where we requested. It was chilly so we asked to sit in a warmer space. They moved us to wherever we wished. Very accommodating! Our Server was Jessica-she treated us like gold! We ordered Catfish Fritters with a nice remoulade. Then a Caesar Salad that was very tasty & finished with Crab Cakes! Great ambiance inside & out. Live Music was setting up for the Annual Burn your socks & welcome flip flops party! Great place to dock your boat & grab a bite! Super convenient to the interstate & the Ironton/Proctorville OH area! Enjoy your experience on the Ohio River on an actual boat! There were some available docking spaces around but not sure if gasoline is nearby. See you at Schooners!

Wish I was able to review with 0 stars. Just horrible. “10-15 minute” wait time turns into an hour. We were only seated because one of us decided to go up and ask about our wait time. We were told they texted us.. I watched her write down the number correctly when we arrived and I did not receive any call or text, in 5G service. It then began to storm, our waitress was “searching for a table to put us at” for an hour. Waitress next table down was able to seat that family at a table indoors right away, and even offered right away before the storm even came through. As we were standing indoors away from our table while our waitress still searched for something indoors to sit us at (we also had a toddler with us), we watched other families be seated at tables indoors, unable to find our waitress anywhere. We finally decided to ask to speak to a manager after about 2.5 hours. We eventually were able to leave with our food completely paid for. The experience was so horrid, I haven’t been able to taste the food yet so I can’t comment on that. I don’t ever complain, however I simply wanted to review based off this experience alone as I don’t want anyone else to have to deal with this on a nice family...
