Angel's Island Coffee — Restaurant in Huntsville

This was a while ago, but I feel I need to share this. I was meeting someone here for a first "date" of sorts. I proceeded to order my drink, and I was so nervous that I FORGOT MY WALLET. My date was sitting at a table, so luckily they weren't at the register with me and a couple of other people when I realized I had NO money. I was literally on the verge of tears because I was so embarrassed. (I have extreme social anxiety, so this was just a big deal to me at the time) and you guys, the lady behind the counter (I can't remember her name now because it's been a couple years but maybe it was Angel or another employee) without missing a beat she just says "oh..thats ok! don't worry about it, it's on the house!" I was surprised and I started to say "oh, no, that's ok..." but she just smiled and politely kind of insisted. Like it was no big deal. I then received my coffee, sat down with my date and we talked for 3 hours. As I mentioned, I have severe anxiety, so this situation was almost a nightmare (in my head) and embarrassing at the least, but they were so kind, honestly helping give me a great experience and a moment of kindness I'll never forget. I went back some days later when I could and paid for my coffee. At first she said "no, that's ok" but this time, I insisted. I really love this cute little place and recommend it to anyone who is visiting Huntsville and looking for a well made, fair priced cup of coffee (or smoothie!) as well as polite and genuinely nice people who will go out of their way to make sure you are happy! 100/10!!!

Good coffee & food was pretty good too, but the staff could have been more helpful. When my guest and I approached to place our order the barista seemed annoyed that we didn’t know the menu like the back of our hand and didn’t really try to ask us any questions about what we wanted to help us navigate and select what we wanted.

Then once we did choose we were told we couldn’t have cold foam on hot lattes ….which is fine but I’m a regular at Starbucks and they never had an issue and it wasn’t noted anywhere on the menus…. Anyways I just prefer when my options are clear.

The other issue was that it wasn’t really clear who I was to order with. One woman asked us questions about our coffee and then another about our food but neither seemed to be the right person and then we had to repeat our order like 4 more times bc none wrote it down and staff member just kept walking around ( visibly busy to be fair ) and diff ones kept talking to us before FINALLY someone came and asked for our order for the final time and rang us up.

All in all, I’d chalk this up to being a local spot where when you go frequently people probably know your name and how you like your coffee on sight. The interior was comfy and casual and overall it was good once we got our order which did come fast.

I will go back and give them another...

I am gluten sensitive and have to really watch my diet to not aggravated my auto immune disorder.

There are not many places in Huntsville that offer a safe solution for me to eat without cross contamination being a possibility.

I come here alot for coffee. Which they have honey ( a great natural alternative to sugar) they also offer Oat milk.

I had a hot breakfast sandwich today with turkey, cheddar, mustard, and a little mayo, and added a egg on top. And instead of bread, I got lettuce. Kristen made my sandwich today and it was absolutely perfect. The lettuce was sturdy and crisp, there was enough mayo and mustard for flavor but was not messy. And everything was heated throughly and she went the extra mile and did a double layer of lettuce so it was as sturdy as a sandwich with bread. Which was so appreciated.

Not only is the food and drink always on par. But the atmosphere is so relaxing, and just welcoming.

If you want some place that is 100%better than your average Joe Starbucks drink. Please give this place a try. Angels is a staple of Huntsville. And a must go to place if your visiting. You...
