Venturing into Ding How II on Christmas heightened our anticipation for a delightful dining experience. The interior cleanliness and service, was almost exceptional. However, the culinary journey that followed left much to be desired.
The won ton soup managed to salvage some respect, offering a palate-pleasing taste that stood out amidst the disappointments. Unfortunately, the egg rolls, while aesthetically pleasing on the outside, revealed a rather unpleasant interior. The crab Rangoon, a classic favorite, failed to meet expectations, as it was devoid of crabmeat and filled with an unconventional mozzarella cheese substitute, leaving us questioning the ingredient choice.
The special fried rice, arriving at our table in a lackluster state, exhibited both sogginess and a noticeable lack of flavor. The general tao chicken, anticipated as a staple delight, turned out to be excessively sour, rendering it unpalatable for the younger diners in our group.
The chicken lomien showcased a disappointing medley of soggy noodles and an overwhelming amount of slime, deviating significantly from the expected standard for a noodle dish. Moving on to the sweet and sour chicken, the crispy exterior failed to compensate for the dish's imbalance caused by a bed of soggy lettuce. The flavor, unfortunately, bordered on bland.
The orange chicken took an unexpected turn with thinly sliced chicken breast, battered and fried, served barely warm, and drenched in a basic orange sauce. This departure from the traditional chunky style left us questioning the chef's creative choices.
Altogether, Ding How II delivered what could be described as the worst Chinese dining experience we've encountered in Huntsville. The prices, seemingly inflated for the portions provided, further exacerbated our disappointment. Despite the festive occasion, the culinary letdown overshadowed any potential holiday cheer, leaving us with a memorable yet regrettable experience at...
Read moreI've been dying to come here to try their dim sum. I finally remembered to come on the weekend with the family. I usually try out new places without my family during the week so it was hard for me to remember to come here when they have dim sum. This place was very busy on a Sunday afternoon.
Everything we ordered looked great when it came out, however, most of the dishes were cold. I guess it was suspicious how quickly all the dim sum dishes came out. Like the baked pork buns were room temperature cold. The only dishes that were warm were the ones on the steamers like shumai. Even the roast duck was cold. Luckily everything we ordered tasted good. And my favorite egg custard tarts hit the spot. They were also cold, but I'm just happy to have some.
The sesame balls were huge, but the filling was lacking. There was a similar but savory dish (I don't remember ordering) that had the smallest amount of filling, but it tasted good but it really left me feeling I needed more filling. They were both came out cold too. I would avoid these next time as well as the ribs.
We ordered a couple made to order dishes like fried rice and beef chow fun. I didn't have any fried rice but everyone seemed to like it. I always love chow fun which is a fat rice noodle dish. So I was happy to see this on the menu. The portion seemed very small for a Chinese restaurant which I always think of as family style eating. I almost want to award it as the smallest portions of any Chinese restaurant I've ever been to.
I really wanted to love this place, but the cold food and small portions made me hesitant for a 5 star. I still am so thankful there is a place for dim sum and chow fun...
Read moreI've been to this place in the past before and it was amazing but we went today and it was very different. Part one: Service As soon as we walked into the business, there was no one around. There were people sitting down and eating but no employees around at all. 5 mintures go by and we finally get a table. As we were sitting at the table, we comtinue to play the waiting game. Once the waitress arrived, she was rude and very short. Since we waited there for so long, we already knew what we wanted. Later once we got our food, the service continued to be non exsistant. Glasses empty, couldn't even get any sauce for my partners food because the waitress was too busy to be bother with, she was too busy eating her food at a regular table. Part two: Food I ordered the Orange chicken with fried rice and my partner ordered a chicken dish with sauce and white rice. The food was quick and hot, which is nice. But sadly, this is kinda were my dish went sour. My food was drenched with this orange sauce that was everywhere. The chicken was super soggy and the sauce made it too much to eat. My partner really enjoyed his food though so thats a plus. Part three: State Of Business Meanwhile as we sit at the table waiting for the rude lady to come back with our check, I wondered what other people thought of this place. I read mixed reviews about this place, I was not shocked when I read that other people have gotten the same poor service and the same nasty orange chicken. My closing statement is: if you want some decent food, please order ahead and take it home. Ps. stray away from the...
