My wife and I arrived to eat lunch together. We waited for ten minutes before being allowed to order food. Keep in mind that the place was not busy. There were perhaps 15 other patrons dining with us at the time. After finally ordering, we waited for our food. I ordered sushi and my wife ordered sesame chicken. My sushi arrived 15 minutes or so after ordering. I ordered mainly from the 50% off Monday sushi menu, but I also got one order of extremely overpriced salmon nigiri sushi. This is just two pieces of rice with two pieces of raw salmon atop them for $5.00. The sushi rolls I got were fine, but the salmon nigiri had the distinctive odor of rotting fish meat. I always smell my sushi before eating it since mistakenly putting spoiled fish in my mouth two or three times. I informed my waiter that I would like to send the salmon nigiri back because it was not good. I advised him that it smelled bad and I did not want to eat it. His response was to inform me that the fish was fresh and that it came in yesterday. This doesn't change anything about the fish. Knowing that the fish came in yesterday doesn't magically reverse time on the fish meat and undo the spoilage. My response was to invite him to please smell the fish and advised him once more that it was bad. He took the plate from the table and headed to the kitchen without smelling it. One minute later, he returned with the plate of fish and placed it back on my table. He advised me that the salmon used on the nigiri sushi was the same salmon in the rolls. I advised him that be that as it may, the salmon in the rolls does not smell bad. The salmon used in the nigiri sushi smells bad. I again invited him to smell it. He just left without removing the spoiled fish. My wife's food still hasn't arrived and she has to return to work very soon.
Some lady (presably the manager) arrives and continued to argue with me about the fish, insisting that it is fresh. I advised her that the fish on the nigiri smells bad, and invited her to smell it. She smelled it. Finally someone actually smelled it. She said they only use fresh fish and they sell a lot of sushi. She said she would remove it from the bill and left, but she didn't admit it smelled bad and implied that I just "didn't want it."
45 minutes after ordering a simple chicken dish and my wife still didn't get her meal. She left angrily, having to return to work hungry. Her job precludes the opportunity to eat anything for the rest of the afternoon.
I had to cancel her chicken while my son finally got the small bowl of fried rice I ordered for him (after having to remind the waiter as he handed me my bill). I sat while my toddler ate his fried rice. The waiter advised me he had to add the fried rice to my bill and gave me my new, up-to-date bill. There was no apologetic attitude, no attempt to make me happier about my experience. Everything was accounted for down to the last penny and grain of rice.
I left zero tip and went home to take the time out of my day off to write this review because of what a crummy time my wife and I had at Four Leaves. If you want to pay a substantial amount above what the food is worth, have antagonistic and argumentative wait staff, and possibly never even get the food you ordered, then I highly recommend this awful restaurant. This is the first restaurant review I have written in like three years. They basically ruined my wife's day and put us both in a foul mood. Hopefully someone will read this and avoid eating there. Hopefully they will eat at a nicer restaurant where the staff doesn't try to argue with you about their rotten fish, waste your time, and make you feel bad, all while being sure you pay for every possible billable item you consumed. I hope this review was...
Read moreZERO STARS. Thank you Dwayne for ruining the Father’s Day dinner I planned for my Father. Dwayne one of the managers, was EXTREMELY rude to our party of 7. We have patroned Four Leaves for almost 7 years and we've never been treated like criminals like we were tonight. The room we were sat in was extremely hot. We asked our server to have the air condition lowered to cool the room off, we were accommodated however, the air still seemed to fluctuate and I developed a headache. We turned the lights down in order to ease the headache. Our server came into the room and stated my manager wants to know did you turn the lights down? We said yes because the room is hot and one of us has a headache. He said the manager said do not touch the lights. This was an awkward position to put the server in. The manager should've come to the room and addressed us. My husband went to speak to the manager, and he stated 'you can not pull the lights down'. We did not touch the lights in the ceiling, however we turned the dial which by the way is not labeled (it does not say do not touch). Keep in mind the light switch (dial) is IN the room on the wall where we were sitting. We paid for our appetizers and left. Before leaving I asked for the owners names, I'll follow up with my concerns.
We are disappointed of how Dwayne was to our entire party. Rudeness was unnecessary as we were not rude to him. He immediately became overly defensive, showing no empathy whatsoever. 7 years of enjoying dinner here to no longer feel welcome in this establishment. Not to mention being 1/2 Asian this was my go to restaurant. I'm saddened to see this come to an end, with Dwayne being unrefined, unprofessional and flat out rude we will not eat here until he is no longer employed with Four Leaves. Go elsewhere, it's not worth being treated by a manager with a...
Read moreI felt so disappointed writing this review! A lot of people requested on an old post for me to start reviewing different sushi places! Warning: Brutal Honest Review. I am born and raised from Hawai’i. I was recommended this place by a person who also moved here from Hawai’i and another who came from Japan….so I had high hopes. This was a one and done place. Our bill came out to $73.
At Four Leaves, a pan-Asian dining experience, my journey began with a trio of appetizers: Ginger Miso Salad, Egg Drop Soup, and Hot/Sour Soup. The Ginger Miso Salad stood out with its refreshing blend of flavors, setting a promising start. Unfortunately, the Egg Drop Soup fell short, presenting a rather bland taste profile that lacked depth, despite its clear chicken broth base. Similarly, the Hot and Sour Soup failed to deliver the expected numbing spice, lacking both aroma and flavor.
The main course featured sashimi, which, disappointingly, had a watery taste and an almost mushy texture, suggesting it might have been previously frozen and not properly thawed, detracting from the freshness one anticipates in sashimi. We ordered the sashimi appetizer and the Chirashi which was just sashimi placed onto of a bed of sushi rice. Sushi rice was really good though kudos to that.
The Szechuan Beef, ordered with an expectation of a spicy thrill, was well-seasoned but mild in heat, even after requesting an extra spicy preparation. While the dish was competently stir-fried, it did not align with the traditional fiery essence of Szechuan cuisine, leaving something to be desired for aficionados seeking authenticity and a spicy kick.
In conclusion, while Four Leaves presents an ambitious pan-Asian menu, the execution in some dishes falls short of capturing the essence and complexity of flavors that characterize the regional cuisines it aims...
