Fantastic prime rib - if you can get it. We have noticed it is extremely popular, so we showed up for dinner at 4:15pm on a Saturday evening. Explicitly asked for a table, explicitly asked if they had prime rib (they have been sold out when we have come before). Confirmed both; told there was a 40-50 minute wait. OK, we wait. Get called to be seated, I again confirm, "Table, right"? The hostess then proceeds to try to seat us at a booth. I explain we asked for a table and need a table as my mother cannot get in and out of a booth. She proceeds to take us to the table we had noticed was empty when we first arrived. I suspect they did not have enough servers to man it. Then the waiter came to take our order. We wanted two 16 ounce prime ribs and one 12 ounce. Waiter comes back and says they only have three 12 ounces ones available. We say fine. Waiter comes back, sorry, now only 2 are available. We really came for the prime rib, so at this point we left. I don't know what time you have to arrive at this restaurant to have dinner without a long wait. And how can they sell out of prime rib by 5pm? The dinner hours haven't even started by then.
UPDATE A YEAR LATER So, here we are a year later, same story. We ask for a table, they text us when they are ready to seat us, and I ask, "We have a table, right?" Oopsie, we forgot you needed a table. You'll have to wait a few minutes. So we turn around and head back out the door to wait on the benches, but as we hit the door they came up with a booth with a table.
We get seated, get drinks and appetizer, and then we would like to order. As usual, 3 of the 5 of us wanted prime rib, as it really is their signature meal. "Oh, we only have one left, and it's 14 ounce. Let me go reserve it for you." Then the waiter comes back, "Oh, sorry, we are all out of prime rib now." This is 6:30pm.
I am done with Texas Roadhouse. Everything else on their menu is just "meh". The prime rib is fabulous. But this is about the third time now we have tried to order it only to be told they are sold out.
UPDATE ANOTHER YEAR LATER So I had sworn off of this Texas Road House, as I said a year ago. But my mother had $130 worth of gift cards I had given her some time ago that we wanted to use up. So, I figured what the heck. It's been over a year since we were there last, Covid is long gone, and this place is always PACKED. Surely they have figured out how to stock food by NOW?
Well, no, they have not. We arrived around 4:20 or so. People were waiting out the door. We got seated around 5:30 or so. Go to place our order..."You have prime rib, right?" "Uh, let me go check, I'm not sure." Waitress comes back. "We only have medium prime rib." OK, fine, that's what we like to order anyway. So we order away. Two 16 oz prime ribs and one 12 oz. Waitress comes back. "Oh, we only have enough for one 16 oz and one 12 oz." So, once again, I had to make due with something else. Ordered an 8 oz fillet. The two prime rib cuts we did get were dry. My "fillet" the waitress called a sirloin. I thought it was one, too. Did not look like a fillet. Definitely not a center-cut fillet. Total meal was $166 plus $35 tip. Basically a $200 completely mediocre and unsatisfying meal. The only thing outstanding are their rolls, which now are HUGE and delicious.
I hit a Texas Roadhouse in Winchester, Virginia last October. THEY had prime rib, no problem. I don't know what it is about this Huntsville location. The place is always absolutely packed. I don't know why they are so stingy on cooking prime rib. Surely they are doing enough business to tolerate a little waste - assuming there is waste since clearly they can't keep the stuff in stock.
I'm absolutely done with this location now. You could not pay...
Read moreOkay, I don't enjoy giving bad reviews, so I'll give them an additional star so I don't feel guilty. I went here two days in a row. I'm staying at the hotel across the street so it's convenient. First night- Service/friendliness: fine. Smiled. Friendly, from the hosts server Order accuracy/timeliness: I ordered midwell but it came out medium. It was delicious so no biggie. I didn't receive rolls until I was finished with my steak. I left something there so I went back the second day and decided to stay. I'll be honest, the only reason I stayed was because the service manager was very friendly and professional; I think her name was Elizabeth. Sat down at 6:05. No one came to the table for 8 minutes. I watched a server who ended up being mine, talking to her friends for that whole 12 minutes. No rolls. She came over and apologized for the wait - no biggie. I ordered a medium steak this time since the night before the medium was great. My first side came out fine: no rolls, so I asked for them. I ate the first side and the rolls arrived. I went to the bathroom, came back and my table was cleared off. I told the busser I wasn't finished. She was polite. Honest mistake I suppose. Sat down. The server came to check on me and asked if I wanted a drink. I said no, but, did she tell you she cleared my table while I was in the restroom? So I will take those rolls. The rolls came. The server chatted with her friends. My steak came at 652. The plate had not been wiped. It was well done and cold. Which is odd. Now the steak fries were hot, like fresh out of the fryer. The server did ask me to cut in to it, which I did. I told her it was fine because I wasn't about to wait for another. She turned around and started talking to her friends. The female friend and my server went into the restroom together and stayed in there the Entire time it took me to eat my little steak and fries: 8 minutes plus 3 more. She walked the friend back to her table and check on me. I just handed her my card. Overall:...
