Visited with a friend for a late breakfast/brunch. We had a pleasant enough time.
Sunny Street is right on the Huntsville-Madison border, as I think of it. It's a good drive for me but I was interested in trying something new and not a ton of local places are open on Mondays. So that's a bonus!
I had the largest breakfast combo -- can't remember what it's called but it's like most other places' big breakfast meals: two eggs, your choice of meat, grits or hash browns, biscuit or toast, and a pancake or two. I chose bacon and hash browns, and my eggs were scrambled.
The eggs were cooked to my liking, maybe a little on the runnier side for others. The bacon was really quite good, the right amount of crispness. I also liked the pancakes -- they were sweet, fluffy, and cakey, but not too much of any of those things. Unfortunately, my toast was forgotten and never got replaced. I also asked for my hash browns extra crispy, and they definitely weren't.
My friend got the chicken fried steak. She didn't comment on it, but she did offer me a bite. I rejected it because I don't like the dish much, but I doubt it was terrible if she was willing to let me try. The gravy on it looked a little old, but she didn't complain, so who knows.
Service was pleasant personality wise but a little on the slow side for how relatively non-busy it was. Price was a little higher than Waffle House, and given my Waffle House proclivity and how out of the way Sunny Street is, it probably won't be a super high priority pick for me in the future. That said, it's not a bad place to visit for a tasty bite...
Read moreBeen here a handful of times trying to give it a good chance for improving. But it has not proven to be the case. Every time they are always out of something or all the ingredients are not there. This time I attempted to order the Avocado Berry Salad. I requested no avocado and added grilled chicken. The menu states fresh greens and EXTRA spinach…this was ONLY spinach, about 3 1/2 quartered strawberries, probably about a 1/4 cup of feta (too much), maybe 2oz of grilled chicken that have to pay $2+ extra for…and supposed to have candied walnuts but they were out…so chopped walnuts were offered as a substitute only AFTER it was mentioned that there were ingredients missing. Well, there is some nasty seasoning that was mixed in some where (assume from the grilled chicken)…Mexican flavor and mushy. Very horrible when you want a tang from the red wine vinaigrette and some tartness from a strawberry, and you’re met with an unsettling flavor that is not supposed to be in a fresh salad. And for the price with or without the chicken, it wasn’t worth it. And that was THIS one visit. Others with me stated their meals were prepared incorrectly…eggs not made how ordered & Children’s chicken tenders were either over fried or nastily soaking in grease...
Read moreSunny Street Cafe was referred to me by a colleague as a great place to get breakfast. This was my first time ordering food from this restaurant. I order through Uber Eats. The food was delivered on time but my food order was missing the Southern Grits and the Corn Beef Hash appear to be scraps leftover and scraped from a burnt pot. The portion was very small not even enough to fill a toddlers bowl. The eggs was placed over the Corn Beef Hash to hide the deceit. I called the restaurant and spoke with a Michelle who said call Uber Eats to dispute the order. Sunny Street Cafe prepared the food which was Unsatisfactory and wrong. It’s not up to Uber Eats to rectify Sunny Street Cafe inability to prepare quality proportion food and get it correct. Michelle it’s yours. See photos of the food I received. Not a good first impression but it is my last time ordering from Sunny...
