Little Rosie's Taqueria has that cozy hole-in-the-wall feel, with its brick exterior and large windows that bring a warm glow inside. The decor is much like its sister restaurant, Rosie’s, with brightly-colored flags strung from the ceiling and decor that gives it a vintage Tex-Mex vibe. As you enter, you’ll find yourself at the counter, where you place your order at the counter. My favorite part of the decor is, of course, the large ceramic frog perched serenely below the TV.
We were also impressed by the prices. When looking for high-quality ingredients or great prices, we usually expect to sacrifice one for the other, but Little Rosie’s doesn’t skimp in either department. So, what did we eat?
Tacos Plate
I’m a big fan of tacos—chicken or beef, corn or flour, soft or crunchy, there’s no wrong choice! So, I kept it simple with the taco plate, served with beans and rice.
Little Rosie’s doesn’t skimp on the quality anywhere here. The crunchy shells were crisp and still just a little warm, freshly assembled with crunchy lettuce, tomatoes, and quality ground beef. I poured a little of their red salsa on top of mine to add a little more of that fresh tomato taste, which added a little extra moisture without letting the shell crumble.
As much as I enjoyed my tacos, though, the rice and beans definitely stole the show. Their refried beans have a wonderful meaty flavor to them, adding that much more protein to the dish. Little Rosie’s has some meat-free dishes, and for those looking for a little more protein, this side can add a lot to your plate.
Fajitas
My partner ordered the fajitas, which included a portion of meat, grilled peppers and onions, fresh tortillas, and some fresh vegetables. This was one of the freshest and more decadent plates we received. If you’re looking for a filling meal with a substantial plate, they have you covered.
While the best fajita dish, in my humble opinion, is a mix of everything piled onto one over-stuffed tortilla, we sampled the chicken separately, along with the buttery sauce served with it. The chicken, grilled and packed with flavor, was a standout part of the dish.
Of course, no fajita dish is complete without the vegetables. Red and green peppers mixed with onions finish out this dish with just enough seasoning to bring out those fresh, natural flavor. This veggie combination was also grilled just right, soft enough to cut with a fork and fill your tortilla to bursting with flavor.
Little Rosie’s Salsa and Sides
While not a separate meal, Little Rosie’s salsas deserve a moment in the spotlight just as much as their meals. We sampled their traditional red salsa and their salsa verde, and I admit, I did swipe my partner’s guacamole.
The traditional red salsa was exactly what I look for in a good salsa: thick, chunky, scoopable, and full of flavor. No one component stands out, though hints of onion and cilantro ring through. This is a perfect medley, one that had me clearing out my personal basket of chips.
The salsa verde is, in a word, tangy. I could find a few more words to describe it, but this lovely green dip is not quite as thick but every bit as tasty as the other. While it’s perfect for chips, I recommend drizzling this over your entree, specifically chicken dishes, to add a punchy, bright flavor.
And for the guacamole lovers out there? Don’t skip out on this one. It’s creamy, fresh, and absolutely addictive. The salty chips bring out the richness of the avocado and will have you returning again and again for just one scoop (my “just one scoop” turned into “the whole guac cup,” though luckily, I was the only guacamole fan...
Read moreLittle Rosies not only serves your typical lunch and dinner, but they have breakfast! They have absolutely wonderful breakfast and you should check out their muffins! They have chocolate, banana nut ( I don't care for it too much), and orange. These muffins are made fresh every morning! They are wonderful. Sometimes if they have leftovers we will hand them out later in the evenings for free! They also have Mexican doughnuts if your into the sweeter things for breakfast! And of course they have the typical breakfast burritos and other items similar to them.
For lunch this tex-mex serves all different kinds of tasty foods. They have tacos made with 100% beef and they are stuffed full with meat, lettuce, tomato, and cheese! They have burritos, quesadilla, soup, salads, and pocket tacos. Pocket tacos are one of my favorite things. I typically get them with turkey and what it is is a flat tortilla with turkey, pico de gallo, and cheese! Also, one of the nicest things about Little Rosies is they are very accommodating everyone's food needs. You can basically sub or change anything you want to make it your way! The customer service is phenomenal.
One of the best items that I loved from Little Rosies was the Peanut butter Taco. It was delish! Basically it was a flour tortilla with peanut butter and honey and you zap it in the microwave for like 20 seconds and it is a great meal, snack, and even dessert! I wish they would bring that dish back!
This establishment is unique because there are no waitresses that attend to the tables, but instead a cashier. What the cashiers do is take your order and answer any questions. Then, they will give you a drink or an alcoholic beverage and a basket of chips. If you order queso or cheese dip which I highly recommend you do they will go and get that for you.
They have Yellow and White cheese. You can also make it where they add some taco beef at the bottom and pico de gallo on top! It is wonderful! The chips are really crunchy and the perfect appetizer. They have three choices of salsa out where you get your drinks. You can get traditional which is just regular salsa, Tomatilla which is made from green tomatos and more mild than the traditional, finally you have roasted which is a thinner substance and made from garlic. I like the garlic the best, but you should try all three!
The fajitas and taco salads are a little more different, because instead of being at a sit down its more like a grab 'n go. Little Rosies you could say is "fast food" but with a much higher quality. Therefore, with the higher quality is the higher pricing, but you can still find some stuff that is good for a college budget. I really like the chicken tortilla soup but that may be seasonal.
Check this place out before you leave town! Overall, great place for any meal of the day! They also...

Over the past year I've seen the accuracy of orders go down the drain. Literally the last 3 orders I've gotten have been wrong, often substituting a beef entree for my bean (meatless) order. Today there was even a couple chunks of meat in the queso. Upon calling to let them know of this, I was encouraged to come back so they could make it right. Management wasn't particularly understanding of the fact that I didn't want to spend another 20 mins in the car to pickup the correct order. After having to request a refund, they did gladly refund the single entree that was wrong but not the queso with beef or any of the rest of my order. It was recommended that next time I come I let them know they've screwed up several of our past orders and they'd be sure they got it right. I understand we all make mistakes, but do I really have to let them know that I'd like my order to be right?
Last time I made it home without chips for my queso, but decided to come back to get the chips. At that point I was told that I didn't order chips with my queso (who would do that anyway??) and that if I wanted chips it'd be $3 (to be clear, I did order chips, they just didn't ring them up).
I guess when I get the urge for some Rosie's, I'll just go to "Big" Rosies on South Parkway, where the customer service is ALWAYS on point and I can actually get my food just as quick and for less money. Not to mention they offer much better vegetarian options (or at least vegetarianish, I know there's chicken broth or beef/pork grease in a lot of stuff).
*Edit 10/10/2025 After a few years off, we thought we'd give Little Rosie's a go again. Had a couple meals that were fine. Picked up lunch for me an a coworker last week and part of the meal was missing. Not a big deal, but I called to get a refund on that meal. The only offer made was to come back and pick up the missing item (about an hour round trip with lunch traffic), or to put my name on a list for a free meal next time. The gentleman kept saying everyone makes mistakes, which I agreed to. I reiterated that I wasn't upset about the mistake, I'd just like a refund, which he refused to offer. He said he could only do a refund in person. I pointed out that any point of sale/cc processor should be able to void the charge, but he refused to do that because he can't do a partial refund. Though I remained polite and professional, he hung up on me after talking for about 5 minutes. I sent an email to the email listed on Little Rosie's website, which bounced, and reached out via the website contact, and got no response. I'm left with no food, no food, and no real solutions. Seems like things have gone downhill, rather than gotten better since my...
