Customers Beware!! Bad customer service seems to be a common business practice. And rejected orders could offend the restaurant manager. Pofits are more important than customer satisfaction. As any reputable restaurant manager would prove their integrity with accommodations. Such as a gift card, freshly prepared reorder or a simple REFUND. Instead, an offer to reheat cold rice in a microwave oven was proposed. The order was placed around 8:30...the restaurant closed at 9pm. My theory is that the staff had no intention to ensure our order would be freshly prepared or hot. Instead, the staffs goal was closing the restaurant in a timely and manner, repurposing food to avoid a loss, and passing the cost onto the patron. I declined the uneaten food and any furrher service. As a result, the manager became extremely hostile and berated me for the complaint. She I pay before leaving. When I refused she threatened to contact police and I suggested she call also. She became increasingly angry and I contacted the police to file a report. This review is in correlation to another review published by my husband. I want to be transparent and totally honest about this ordeal. This was the first time in my 51 yrs as an American and wife of a retired disabled veteran that I've ever felt such disgrace. I want to thank the Huntsville Police Department for assisting me. As I have filed a civil litigation involving the matter. Business shouldn't profit if they fail the customer...intentionally or not. It's time to condemn greedy businesses that prioritize profits over the quality and fail to provide satisfactory service. I also wish to plead to Google, please don't allow this selfish manager to dispute/remove customer reviews. It enables her to remain unaccountable for poor customer service, and profiting from it. I am available to be reached for further validation of this dreadful...
Read moreThai Garden is a cozy little restaurant that's been around forever - I only say this because I remember having it as a super picky child and not liking it some 15 years ago! They moved to 5 Points in 1993. 27 years in one location is pretty darn good for a restaurant.
Now that I'm no longer a picky child and am instead a huge fan of Thai food, it was only a matter of time before I decided to try Thai Garden again. We had them for carryout for lunch on Friday, and we enjoyed their food.
Carryout was easy and seamless -- food ready 15 minutes after I called, staff super friendly and polite. Parking is a little difficult here due to the crowded nature of 5 Points, so plan ahead or hope you get lucky. The inside of the restaurant is cozy, if a little dim, and people were spaced very far apart at the tables.
We had the Pad See Ew with chicken (my fave), a Thai iced tea, and the hot and sour wings. Food wise, the hot and sour wings were the best thing. It's an appetizer, not a meal, so not a huge serving, but the wings were very meaty and the sauce struck a good balance between spicy and sweet/sour. The Pad See Ew was alright. Not my favorite version of the dish in town -- the brown sauce isn't as flavorful as some other places. Or maybe there just wasn't enough of it for me, I'm not sure. One fun thing is that Thai Garden makes theirs with Chinese broccoli / kale, so the vegetables are a good bit less bulky and slightly slimier than broccoli Americans are used to. I enjoyed the change of pace in that regard but was really missing some of the flavors you get at other places. The Thai iced tea was delicious and might be my favorite restaurant Thai tea in the area.
Overall, while I'd probably try a curry or something different the next time I go, and while this isn't my absolute favorite Thai joint in Huntsville, for consistency and convenience Thai Garden is a...
Read moreAte here recently when in town visiting a friend. We were craving an authentic and spicy pad thai. The place smelled really odd when we walked in, but it was crowded, and we figured it must be good to have that many customers so we stayed and gave it a chance. Asked for our food to be spicy and was brought an odd smelling dish that was extremely bland. Not even that it wasn't spicy but it had no real discernible flavor either. It smelled a bit like canned pet food. Not very appetizing and not very flavorful. I asked for lime wedges, as I've always had pad thai served with fresh lime literally every place I've ever eaten it, and they brought me lemon slices instead. They did bring out some spices for us to try and spice it up ourselves but it just never got to a point that it was palatable. Neither of us are picky eaters, and we both love a good pad thai, but this just wasn't. Unfortunately we ended up leaving our food uneaten and went to eat at another restaurant instead. Might have left with a better feeling if they had offered any kind of discount considering we couldn't even eat the food or any incentive really to stay like had they remade the food or offered us something else I don't know but they didn't seem to care even after speaking with manager, so I don't think I will be going back there. Really not sure how this place has so many great reviews. I was not impressed at all and left rather irritated about the whole ordeal. The next place we went had cheaper food and tasted way better. This place however was overpriced and just not good at all sadly. I...
