Most disappointing food experience we've had in a long time. Was very excited to try some of the exotic pizza options they have and had high expectations because of all the positive reviews. TL;DR: non-existent service, mediocre food, awkward atmosphere We walked in at 5pm on a Friday night to a mostly empty restaurant. There were two men at the bar drinking waiting on to-go orders, and two tables occupied in the front area. We had to wait to be seated for several minutes because the only employee we could see was the bartender, who had to finish serving people and come around to seat us. We then sat there for close to 10 minutes before our waitress (Bekkah?) came around to get our drink order - wife asked for Dr. Pepper and water, I asked for water. She brought out Dr. Pepper and one water and put them in front of the wrong people. We put in our order: one 12" "Bottomless Pit" pizza and one spicy chicken salad. My wife drank her soda and half of my water and I drank the other half of my water, and then both glasses sat empty for north of 20 minutes before our waitress came by to ask if we needed a refill. Her salad came out about 25 minutes after ordering, and my pizza was another 10 minutes after that. My wife enjoyed the salad, but noted it was a very simple salad, just bagged iceberg lettuce, a thick sliced tomato and cucumber and the chicken. My pizza had all of the toppings in the middle 50% of the pizza and none on the outer 50% of the pizza, which resulted in the pizza being perfect at the crust, delicious and crispy, and the pizza being luke-warm and soggy in the middle. It tasted great, but was not cooked correctly. We once again sat with empty drinks for another 15 minutes until our waitress finally came back to see if we needed a to go box, we got the check, she boxed the other half of my pizza, and never got us refills. The bill for one water, one Dr. Pepper, one chicken salad and one 12" pizza was $49 after tax and tip (still left 20+%), and we were there over an hour with only 5 total other tables occupied in the whole time we were there and saw our waitress 4 times if you include brining the rung up check back. We had come in with the intention of also getting dessert, but decided against it based on how long everything else had taken. There was at least two kitchen staff, the waitress, the bartender/waitress, and a manager there, and the service and food was still so terrible for being so empty. The poo rolls down hill, the manager just sat in the chair by the door on their phone scrolling social media the entire time we were there. Didn't even get up to seat people. The kitchen staff walked out to go outside several times while we were there. Our waitress just sat down by the front door and pulled out her phone numerous times while we sat with empty glasses (one of the two tables she was waiting on in the entire time we were there). Really only the poor bartender/waitress was on the ball hustling, everyone else just couldn't care less, and sadly we didn't get her as a waitress. We will absolutely not be back, which is a shame, because I really would have loved to come back numerous times to try all the very interesting sounding specialty pizzas...
Read moreThis place must appeal to the single drinking crowd. My husband and I, along with my sister and her husband, tried this place for dinner. The best thing we had was the fries, and even they were shoestring McDonalds-type fries that were soggy and appeared to be cooked in old oil. Parking is terrible. My husband is temporarily handicapped so we got a close blue space, but the other couple had to park around the corner in a used car lot. The restaurant itself is very cramped, loud, and difficult to maneuver with a walker. We had to navigate through narrow pathways to get to our table, in the back (no consideration for my husband's handicap). We tried their appetizer fries and what we got was a strange, sweet tasting tomato sauce with a greasy blob of cheese on top of the McDonalds fries. My husband ordered the "Big Ed" sandwich, I had the lasagna, and my sister and her husband shared a smoked chicken pizza. The Big Ed is anything but big except for the bread, which kept cutting my husband's mouth because it was so hard. He said it tasted very much like a bacon sandwich with a tangy mayo. That's it, along with more Micky'D's fries. Those fries were cold, so they were replaced. My lasagna was swimming in grease, and we didn't have enough napkins to sop it all up. The noodles were firmer than al dente. I sent mine back and ate his replacement fries instead. No manager or anyone in authority came by after the lasagna left the table. The pizza was, as my brother-in-law put it, something even he could make at home. It had what looked like was Steak-Out smoke flavored chicken pieces in it, with clumps of fried onion strings (you know, the French's brand ones in the can) mostly on 2/3 of the pie. They weren't evenly distributed, so when you got a slice, a clump of onions with the attached cheese would slide off the slice. There were 5 or 6 clumps scattered in a random fashion on the pie. The explanation for the "clumps" was that "the toppings kind of slide around when it's put in the oven". We left and instead got Carraba's to go. My sister and her husband went to Taco Bell. All 4 of us were more satisfied with our...
Read morePitiful service last night - our group of 5 waited for over an hour at the table, the only table in the server's area, before our order was taken (arrived at 6:45, order was taken at 8:00). We didn't even get our drinks until I pulled the manager aside and voiced my concern (8:10). The manager disappeared into the kitchen and re-emerged with our server and our drinks. All of us thought this was to apologize for our inconvenience and ask what could be done to make it right - and we were mistaken.
Instead of apologizing for poor service of her employee, the manager blamed US, THE CUSTOMER, for the poor performance. She blamed it on us "not coming in all at once", even though no more than 15 minutes from the first person to last person had passed. Even worse, she continued to blame US, THE CUSTOMER despite the server stating it was his fault and he wasn't paying attention. The server then offered to pay for our entire group out of his own wages - something illegal on the restaurant's behalf - instead of the manager offering to compensate us in ANY form for the poor service. Honestly, a simple and sincere apology from management for her staff's poor performance would've gone a long way, but instead she chose to blame her customers.
To top it all off, after we got our food (approx 8:45pm) and our tickets handed to us, we were shocked to see that no compensation for our inconvenience was offered. Not a penny was knocked off, nor was anything discounted (despite the fact our beer orders were taken before the 7pm happy hour deadline). Not even so much as an apology for the sorry treatment.
All of this, and never mind the fact that when one of our group placed an additional order to take home (at 8:30pm), she was told the kitchen was closing despite the store hours on the front entry way listed as 11am-11pm.
There's plenty of other pizzerias in Huntsville. If you are thinking of going to the Boot, I would suggest you reconsider and choose to patronize an establishment who actually cares about...
