Disclaimer: EZ is more of a 3.5 to me, but half-stars are unfortunately not available on Yelp. For what it's worth, I would say my experience was overall solid and met my expectations; however, I'm not sure anything wowed me enough to make me want to come back on any kind of regular basis.
Another disclaimer: this is a SMOKING establishment. If that's a problem for you, don't plan on dining in! Folks under 21 can't enter, either. If you want to try their food without enduring much smoke, they have an easy online ordering system. You can carry out, as I did.
The restaurant is in the former location of Moe's BBQ in Jones Valley. Inside, there's a typical but well-done execution of a sports bar: dimly lit, big TVs, spacious bar with lots of stools, as well as a couple of pinball/arcade style games to play. The smoke smell wasn't especially dense when I went inside to pick up my food, but it was only noon and no one inside was actively smoking.
I had to wander up to the bar to get someone's attention when I arrived, but the folks who took care of my were pleasant enough and seemed pleased I'd stopped in. My food was ready at the moment they said it would be, so kudos there.
EZ has a fairly large menu, mostly of typical bar food: specialty burgers, munchies likes nachos and cheese sticks, club sandwiches, hot wings, as well as a few pizza and Tex-mex type offerings. We played it fairly safe and ordered the chicken tender and fries basket, along with an 8 count of jumbo wings in hot sauce. We added on an extra side of fries, as my boyfriend wanted fries with his wings.
Our food was about what you'd expect. My chicken tenders reminded me a good bit of Applebee's tenders, which isn't necessarily a bad thing (even though people love to meme on Applebee's). Fairly crunchy, decent seasoning, not a ton of meat and I suspect probably not hand-breaded. Overall, fine. The hot wings were fairly large, as promised. We felt they were slightly under-sauced, but we do generally prefer saucier wings. They tasted pretty standard, nothing super unusual but nothing bad either. Neither of us were super crazy about the ranch that we were given.
The stand out was actually the French fries! They come in a unique shape I'd never really seen before. Some are a little thicker, like wedges, but retain pretty good crispness; some are so thin they're as crunchy as potato chips. They also had a light dusting of some kind of tasty seasoning on them. A bonus: the servings of fries were SUPER generous, both on my tender plate and the side order. The side order serving was remarkable: a whole to-go container absolutely BRIMMING with fries. We couldn't nearly eat them all, so keep that in mind when ordering!
If I was to go back, I'd probably try an order of their loaded fries. Overall, if you're looking for a comfortable smoking restaurant to enjoy a game with some friends in the Jones Valley area, this is probably a really good bet. One other bonus/extra, unusual feature for the area: they're open till 2 AM most nights. Check it out, if...
Read moreThe Quick: Good food, comfortable setting outside (smoking establishment if you want inside seating), friendly staff, clean sports bar, tinted windows though give it that Strip Club kinda feel so that is kinda weird. Review: Ordered the Siracha Bleu Cheese Burger with Fries and some Southwest Egg rolls with their Ranch dressing. They did a good job cooking the burger and it was plenty tasteful. The service was good as it was the bartender that really took our order but to their defense, it wasn't packed so I don't know if they have a normal server. You choose your own table so we decided to sit outside since it was already a little smokey on the inside. Food was really good though. Should You go??: Yes, you should def try it out if you are over 21 and looking for a pretty good place to eat and hangout. Would I go back?: Yes I will def go back and try their wings next time Kid Review: Did not go with me as it is a 21 and over place What did I like best: Like the previous reviewer Bailey stated, the fries are unique and I really liked them. I would go again for...
Read moreI entered this bar tonight with my legitimate two years trained service dog who has come with me to this bar multiple times before. I was told by the wait staff that service dogs specifically were not allowed in that establishment. I understand not wanting fake service dogs in the establishment, but it is against the law to prohibit someone with a disability and a service dog TRAINED to assist them with their disability from dining in a public establishment. I have filed a complaint with the ADA, but outside of that I know there’s not much more I can do besides letting others with disabilities and service dogs trained to assist with their disabilities that they are not welcome here. I am beyond disgusted and disappointed. There is absolutely a way to determine the difference between a fake and legitimate service dog and it is extremely illegal to prohibit someone from getting dinner because they have their service...
