Was out for dinner with my uncle, looking for a dive or so in Huron. Went to a couple other places on the river and they were either packed or did not have the food we desired. Stopped in at Main St Tavern and was blown away. Started with onion ring appetizer. Large, perfectly battered and fried deep golden brown with a bistro sauce, very good! I ordered the Uncle Charlie burger. 1/2# burger, topped with muenster, smoked bacon, onion tanglers & maple bacon aioli. Cannot speak high enough about the burger (which was cooked to a perfect medium as requested). The meat is juicy and the combination of the smooth muenster, bacon and onion tanglers was perfect. Then that slightly sweet, maple flavor cuts through the salty, savory, fatty juice as you chew! Need 3 napkins to eat this! Oh my! Will definitely be getting this again. The fries are a thick cut, then seasoned with a touch of Ol' Bay -like seasoning. Usually not a fan of this seasoning because they get so salty & strong, but these were just touched with it, so they were also perfect. Uncle Ray is a picky guy & ordered his wings plain with sauce on the side (I thought this was a mistake myself). He wanted me to try them, but after my burger & onion ring appetizer, I couldn't! He complained that the wings were over done & dried out (what did you think ordering sauce on the side!) To me they looked awesome as well. They looked crispy fried, but void of sauce! Same fries as above. I will definitely be bringing the wife back here so she can try it! Place apparently is normally crawling busy, but was completely empty 630p on a Saturday (bartender wondered why as well... there was some carnival-like event down the street though?) Sorry that the photos are after eating like 2/3rds of each one, I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were really excited to have dinner at the Main Street tavern. We were told to go there by a good friend who lives in the area. We were aware that they do not take parties of more then 10 as it stated on the door when we walked in⦠so we split up at 3 separate tables as if we were 3 separate families walking in⦠a table of 4 another table of 4 and a table of 8, each table having their own check. We were rudely refused service because we knew each other. Itās mind blowing that we were refused service as āwe knew each otherā. The waitress who seemed miserable also explained that the kitchen isnāt big enough to handle that many people. You should never treat people disrespectfully even if you couldnāt accommodate them. Iām unsure what Main Street tavern would do if they had a full restaurant of people even if they didnāt know each other. Iām assuming they couldnāt handle a ārush of peopleā and even if they could the bigger issue is that they do not know how to treat people. Ugh š©.
*editā¦. The response received from this review speaks volumes and is completely aligned with how they treat people. I guess customer service truly isnāt their thing. Not sure what ābulletā you dodged and we werenāt trying to work any system but your response says it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was on a business trip and stopped in here. It was the best bar ive ever been to. Being from Kentucky, I've been the type of guy to always hate on Ohio. This bar and the locals of Huron have showed me a different side of Ohio. The bartenders were very friendly, wanting me to come back. The drunken fools next to me were a great laugh. I even managed to create a few professional contacts. The food here was better than anything I'd ever had back home.
Kyla makes a mean margarita. Kayla and Kylie (I hope I got their names right. They all started with K and I was slightly drunk) were also great bartenders. I didn't go 5 minutes without one of them asking if I needed anything. If you like drinking and are in the area, definitely check this place out.
I plan on moving to Huron soon. I don't just love this bar. I love the entire city, it just happens to revolve around this cozy little...
