Riverview Lanes and Cafe — Local services in Huron

They required security deposits to hold the lanes for New Years Day at 2:30pm from 2 different family’s and they weren’t open. Not only that, but when asked if our deposit could be refunded since they were obviously not open, they refused, saying that they never would have let anyone schedule at 2:30pm since they didn’t open until 4. Yet SOMEHOW, more than one family was promised lanes at this exact time and day. Refusal to reimburse a customer for an obvious mistake on your part is stealing. Don’t ever go here. They are absolute crooks and the guy basically said to take a hike when trying to reason with him. Worst business man ever and he will never ever get our business again.

Update 1/2/22 - Riverview responding saying “ This is not the truth. EXCEPT FOR OUR NEW YEARS EVE packages it is first come first serve.. you called and put a deposit down for New Years Eve..you were a no show...we had 52 other reservations without a problem..”

My response and I just want to add that this is just bad business. Period. “ Riverview Lanes lies. All lies. You had nothing available on New Years Eve. You were all booked up. And looking at both Facebook and google, your hours yesterday you opened at noon. Our Christmas was New Years Day with our mother, not New Years Eve so we didn’t want your package for the 31st anyway. Also, a totally different customer booked a birthday party same day with children at the same time slot of 2:30. We both moved our parties to Sandusky and received excellent service. The bowling was ok and kids had fun for most part. Plenty of house balls to pick from. The price is deceptive. We called in asking if they had open lanes and price to bring 4 kids (2 adults also) there to bowl. They said unlimited 2.5 hours was $8 per person so went expecting $48 but got charged about $80. Why you may ask? As did I. Adults cost 12.50 not 8, and shoes are not included even for kids. So after getting over the price shock we go bowl. Several times the restting machine would get stuck. Sometimes the reset worked but at least 3 times had to get staff to go do it, they were slow to get to it and after first time acted highly annoyed to be asked. Asked to change lanes and was told would have to pay all over. We started early afternoon on a Saturday and it was not busy. By mid afternoon it was busier and it seemed like some heavy drinking was started for mid afternoon so didn't feel like it was kid friendly anymore. Also the space at the lanes is tight, we had 2 seats to ourselves and 2 seats that were essentially shared by 2 lanes, no idea how leagues fit themselves in, guess they sit at the tiny counter behind the lane seats. Didn't see a place for coats, guess they want you in lockers? Thought it would be cheaper, nicer, and smoother...

This is the worst place I’ve ever been to bowl the menu says french fries are five dollars for a basket and they raise the price and charged a 7.50 because we were there with the tournament The owner was mean and nasty Yelled at one of the girls because she brought in a McDonald’s mocha coffee just screamed at her totally uncalled for over a cup of mocha coffee will never ever go back beware of owner he is nasty we never said anything about the girls running the tournament all we are saying is the owner was mean nasty and yelled at us as soon as we came into the bowling alley so we walked out and left that’s how mean and nasty he was well I’ll tell you what you have three prices for french fries five dollars on your website 650 on your menu and you charge 750 I hope it $7.50 for a basket of fries it’s at least a 5 pound bag or 10 pound bag you’re going to give so if that’s not gouging I don’t know what is and the rest of the issue is absolutely true and don’t forget there were four other people in the bowling alley at the Time you were going off like a maniac worst place ever will never...
