I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 5 pm to dine in with one other person. Unfortunately, my first impression wasn’t a good one. First, the floor of the restaurant was dirty. It looked liked it hadn’t been swept in a while. We sat at a table for two next to a window and the window sill was filthy. I also noticed that a table nearby hadn’t been cleared and there was no one there. Some tables also had half used bottles of water that hadn’t been removed. Our table also didn’t have salt and pepper shakers like the others did.
The service at this restaurant also needs much improvement. After putting in our order, we didn’t see any staff for a while. When our food was brought out, we were given utensils without knives (we ordered kabob entrees). Additionally, I had to ask for yogurt sauce, it wasn’t initially brought out. Again, after receiving our food we saw no signs of the wait staff. No one asked if we needed anything. I had to get up at the end of our meal to go to the counter to ask for a to go box and the server was just sitting there on his phone.
I will say the food was pretty good. We ordered one lamb kabob entree and one chicken kabob entree. The lamb was a little too spicy for my liking, but not bad. However, the person who was preparing our meals had a persistent cough, and that was unappealing.
Finally, when I went to pay, I noticed the amount was more than expected. It turns out I was charged a 10% service fee. For what, I don’t know. If this restaurant is going to charge a service fee, then the cleanliness and service needs to be...
Read moreI visited AFANDIM Afghan Cuisine today expecting authentic Afghan food, but unfortunately, it did not meet those expectations. Despite branding themselves as an Afghan restaurant, the place is run by individuals from Pakistan and Bangladesh—which in itself isn’t an issue—but the authenticity of the cuisine is noticeably lacking. If you’re familiar with real Afghan flavors, you’ll likely be disappointed.
I ordered the Combo Beef Kabab, which is supposed to come with a side dish. I was told they were out of the side, and no alternative was offered—not even a simple substitute. That lack of flexibility and customer care was frustrating.
On top of that, the person at the front was quite rude, with an attitude that made it seem like he was doing customers a favor by serving them. Hospitality is a major part of Afghan culture, and sadly, that was completely missing here.
Overall, I wouldn’t call this a true Afghan restaurant, and I won’t be returning. If you’re looking for real Afghan food and a welcoming atmosphere, I recommend supporting an authentic Afghan...
Read moreVery Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Money
I had lunch at this restaurant with my family after a long drive, and it was a very disappointing experience. The staff was unprofessional and not welcoming at all. The menu didn’t match what they were actually serving, and when we asked about a platter that was listed, we were told it wasn’t available. However, just minutes later, they served that exact platter to the table next to us. When we asked again, we were told those customers “knew the owner” – which was extremely unfair and unprofessional. It seems like unless you have connections, you won’t get proper service here.
We also ordered lamb kebab, and the portion was very small. The rice that came with it was overly sweet and didn’t resemble authentic Afghan Qabuli at all. On top of all this, they added a 10% service charge plus tip, which felt completely unreasonable given the poor service and disappointing food quality.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was a complete waste of $50, and the food didn’t even taste good. Very...
