Major disappointment. I ordered large tips combo. I told the person The. tips were dry, rubbery and had obviously been microwaved. The French fries were definitely twice cook and included some inedible crunchy dregs from the french fry basket I requested cat fish steaks . They didn't have any. He told me they had perch fish. I said , okay , I'll try it. BIG MISTAKE. The fish fillets was hard as a poorly cooked week old biscuit. Some of the fish fillet was evenly brown and knock on wood hard. The rest of the fish was dark brown , just short appearing burnt

Next and lastly I ordered five chicken wings. The fried wings, as was all the food I ordered, was slightly warm and tasteless. It was as if they hadn't heard of salt and pepper or any kind of seasoning. Wings cooked kibble and bits hard, not edible. My German shepherd would have sniffed the food, looked up at me and walked away. That's how bad the food was. I have eaten at Honey 1 when it was on the westside of Chicago , featured on WTTW Check Please show . And I followed this good when they relocated to north Western Ave. The food was really great , The service was upbeat accommodating and positive.. Western Avenue had a simple , pleasant done on atmosphere. Not so on 43rd street. I tried to engage the young man about his mom and dad , the founders of Honey 1. The founders were very engaging and effiencient, expliciting orders. This young man had to be called three times before he came to the window. He seemed miserable. I don't want misery to serve my food. When I placed my phone ordered , I specified NO SAUCE on anything. I told the order taker I wanted to experience the freshness and savory smoky taste of the BBQ TIPS. I trashed ALL MY FOOD. It was awful. The prices were not bad at all. But the food was horrible That's the plain truth . Quick observation If there is NO smoke no heat chancers are the BBQ Is microwaved retread meat. No excuse for day old fries. The smoker...

One of the worst experiences I've had in a while. The food was overpriced, especially for what it was, but as if thats not enough to drive away business, they really hammered the nail in the coffin with poor service. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, thinking i was gonna get somewhat thinly shredded, bbq sauce smothered pork. I realized within a minute of ordering the sandwich, they neglect to tell you that it comes with coleslaw, only on the take out menu it lists that, so i request no slaw, a man, nonchalantly responds, "He already put it on" And that was that, no offer of any way to fix, I asked, "Is there alot on it".. No response. At this point, im very disappointed and just wanted to walk out without the sandwich, just to make a statement, but, i needed to eat asap. So, i leave, and get the sandwich home to find soggy fries, dry (already cold) huge chunks of pork, served on a generic burger bun. They couldnt even scrape the cole slaw off. The portion, for $10 is definitely to small. And to boot, i only ate half the sandwich and am already starting to feel very unsettled in my stomach. I do not recommend this...

I tried this place twice and do not recommend. My first time I ordered small Rib tips and they were too tough to chew, so I threw them away.

The 2nd time I asked the cashier, "How's the catfish?" He said, "The catfish is good!" I ordered the 3 piece catfish meal. Once I got back to work and opened my food, there's no fork (I had one, so I wasn't pressed about it). My first bite, I started choking. The catfish is full of bones! I called and spoke to the same man that took my order, and he said we'll they're catfish STEAKS, soooo. I said, so there's nothing you can do about this to make this right? I've just basically lost my money again? He said, well the majority of people that come in know to ask about the bones 🙄 I explained that other places I've been to don't have bones (IT'S, Sharks, etc) so why would I think to ask that question, especially when the menu doesn't say steak??? He continued to put the blame on me and refused to offer an alternative meal or concession od any sort. I will not return to this establishment. Poor food and...

1st weekend of June I was in Hyde Park ( for the legendary 57th Street Art Fair) and since I was close by, dropped in, for my favorite Rib-Tip/Hot-Link> Sauce-on-the-side > Super-Crispy-Fries-please Combo! A customer was waiting to pick-up her order, when she asked me, “Was this place any good?” Well- I replied, “I’ve been goin’ since they were on The Far West Side, then up In Bucktown(on The North Side) and I’ve been faithfully comin’ down South for their HICKORY WOOD SMOKED Piggy” ….and before I could finish describing how much I liked Honey1- she finished my long sentence by saying- “Well- I guess they MUST BE good”, “ you’ve been following them all those years”! Yes-ma’am. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

This place is very much like the old school BBQ joints of my youth. Waking in is a small area to place your order through a small window with a slide in screen separation. This place accepts cash only, but there is an ATM onsite. Their menu selection is limited, but when you specialize in BBQ, not much is needed. I chose an extra large order of rib tips, with the BBQ sauce on the side. This BBQ is the REAL DEAL. Wood smoked, not boiled, with extra large servings (despite choosing the extra large helping). Well worth the price (which in and of itself is reasonable).
