On 3/16, I was sooo excited to visit the new ice cream parlor and buy ice cream in any flavor made vegan! However, the experience fell short of anything nostalgic. Upon entering the shop, someone was making ice cream for a party as I walked to the register to view the menu list and I was not greeted. Another woman appears from the back kitchen helping set up and says hello as she continues fidgeting with kitchen items. After about 7 minutes of waiting, the woman from the kitchen reappears to finally take my order as she smiles brightly waiting to take my order. I then order A PINT chocolate ice cream (vegan) mixed with oreos and pecans. I thought I would FAINT, when the smiley woman said $24.59 please!!! say whaaaaat? I'm wondering if I entered a carnival portal at this point. LOL! Then to make matters worse, the smile woman has the nerve to tell me it will be 25 MINUTES to get my ice cream due to the current party. I almost fainted again...However, I waited and when I went back to retrieve my order, the smiley woman said the ingredients werent working and had to redo it...WTH??? I ended up waiting another 10 min or so..total 35-40 min...I finally taste the ice cream and it is a sour icy mess, which tells me they are at an entry level with ice cream making. not nostalgic at all! PLEAE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!! I will be posting on their...
Read moreHappy to support a locally owned, black business but! I got the sweetest taboo and admittedly, it was entirely too sweet for me, I feel like the brown sugar wasn’t necessary. I will say the ice cream was super thick and creamy, so maybe if I go back I’ll try another option that isn’t too sweet. I tried the steak, beans and potato empanada, as well as the buffalo chicken empanada; I loved the steak but the buffalo chicken was dry on the inside. Also, the food didn’t come out at the same time, so that was a bit of a bummer. It might have been better to get the empanadas out first, then immediately followed by the ice cream. They also didn’t have water, besides bottled water. The lounge area was cute and cozy, I wish there were regular cards to play. Overall, I’m not mad I drove from Logan Square to try it out but I probably won’t go back unless I’m in the area. If the owner reads this review: I wish your business the best of luck! Hopefully your business becomes a...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience at Nitro Nostalgia! The owner was incredibly accommodating, and the staff was super friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The decor is vibrant and fun, featuring fantastic artwork that adds to the atmosphere.
The seating area is a nice touch, with classic board games to enjoy while waiting for your ice cream. Watching the ice cream being made with nitrogen was a unique and entertaining experience!
What really stood out was the owner's commitment to investing in the Bronzeville neighborhood—it’s clear they care about the community. They also hosted my daughter’s birthday party, going above and beyond to make it special by letting her get behind the scenes to make her own ice cream.
We highly recommend Nitro Nostalgia and can’t wait...
