this is part 1 of my review from this restaurant. This is @letseattoliverestaurant Let's Eat To Live is a Black-owned, health-focused restaurant in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood, known for its "clean" soul food, farm-to-table approach, and community involvement, offering dishes like salmon fataya and vegetarian options in a sit-down setting. It's owned by Carmella Coq'mard Muhammad and emphasizes fresh, wholesome ingredients for a health-conscious dining experience. This food was incredible!!! I have to go back to complete my entire evaluation of this place but this red snapper and the salmon/chicken Alfredo was phenomenal #letseattolive #wildcaught #blackowned #chicago @Zinzino Worldwide

This place is very unprofessional. The first time I placed an order the owner claimed she did not receive money from me through an app her business promotes, I had to go through loops to prove it. The second time I ordered through DoorDash she claimed she didn’t have the food. I food was actually good the first time I had it and I wanted to support a black owned business. The third time I called ahead to see if she had it lamb chops, a worker confirmed she did. I placed an order on DoorDash and went up to the restaurant she claimed to not have it again but she had an order for a new client lamb chops. Maybe because she didn’t want to honor the deal on DoorDash she should have said it I would have paid the difference, instead she sent me away without even a replace. I went to the restaurant with a broken foot just to enjoy the food to leave with nothing. Never again, she didn’t have a care in the world of what she was putting a customer through. You lost support. Don’t waste your time here.

We came in on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the falafel and hummus (good presentation but the falafel could have been more flavorful), the salmon fataya (delicious), Jamaican beef pattie (flakey and scrumptious), smoked wings (solid), chicken Caesar salad (chicken grilled to perfection & the homemade croutons were fire!), escovitch red snapper w/ coconut sweet rice, mustard greens w/ smoked salmon, & carrot fluff (a complete hit! Nothing missed), and the butter garlic lamb chops with Mac and cheese and garlic Brussels sprouts (also a good choice but this batch of Brussels were really salty). So overall our first visit was a success and we will be back! Our server, Nakiah was really sweet and attentive. The space was clean. The art on the wall was nice. I had never had “carrot fluff” before but I’m an instant fan. I’m very happy to have a place like this in our neighborhood.

I ordered the escovitch fish with coconut rice, mustard greens, and asparagus. I also got a side of Mac and cheese and a beef Patty.

Let’s start with the good: The service was phenomenal. The new guy at the front was pleasant, friendly, and helpful. The coconut sweet rice was tasty. Became a bit overwhelming after a while but good nonetheless. The sauce and the peppers for the fish was really good. The beef patty crust was amazing, the beef on the inside was more on the mushy side but not a bad patty. The Mac and Cheese was ok. It’s different from what I’m used to. Really cheesy with a smoky flavor. It’s heavy on the white cheese, (not sure what kind of cheese that is) I wasn’t a huge fan. However, I think this is a personal preference and I feel others might actually enjoy it.

The bad: The fish tasted like it was about to go bad before they cooked it. The mustard greens was over cooked with little flavor.

In total, I spent a little over $45 with tax and tip and felt very underwhelmed by the food. I would probably give it a 2.5 but I do appreciate good service so that’s where the additional 0.5 comes in. Granted, I did go in as they were closing so maybe it would’ve been better at a different...

Almost every week I purchase the lamb chop special dinner on Thursday. Normally it comes with 4 lamb bones, 2 veggies & 1 starch. However, today the menu was changed to 3 lamb bones, 1veggie & 1 starch. For the last couple of months several changes have taken place to the menu. When asked why, no one seems to know or they will say ,” this is how it’s been since I worked here”!! They act like they fell off the moon to earth and don’t know anything. An intentionally gaslighting customers , is typical narcissistic behavior. I enjoy supporting black, local businesses but what I have realized is that sometimes BLACK FOLKS forget about what really matters in business—customer service!! You should make sure that every customer has a similar experience not just the folks you share faith with. The inconsistency of service, lack of care for fulfilling customer needs turns me off and I will not support any business that does not have these basic concepts at the heart of their mission. This is one reason why black businesses have a hard time sustaining community wealth because they are not willing to be a little flexible and understanding with...

I've eaten from this restaurant a total of four times. I live in the neighborhood it's convenient. However every meal I've ordered from this restaurant the quality of the food goes down a little at a time. I wait to give reviews for this reason. Sometimes the first good meal may be the only good meal you get. The first meal I had from them was the lamb chops and they were amazing. I had the lamb chops with mac and cheese in the mac and cheese was so good. The second meal I had from them was the red snapper and it was good not as great as the first time. The third meal I had from them was the whiting fish it was fried too hard and was tasteless. The fourth meal was a barbecue chicken dinner it was nasty. The chicken was burnt the barbecue sauce was nasty. I had a mac and cheese as a side and it was terrible.

I don't know if they're cycling through chefs but I don't like it. I had the barbecue chicken Friday January 26th and it was such a bad experience I don't want to go back again.

However the service is always great and professional. The restaurant is clean with a...
