We've been going here for over 4 years and unfortunately this past weekend was our last. We ordered the exact same thing we always do and that is the green chili burrito with a side of french fries. It's the best, which is why we would drive all the way from Denver for as long as we did for it. We get the check and I find that the waitress charged us a whopping $19 for 6 sides of ranch. You read that right. $19. What normally was never a charge was all of a sudden $3.16 per side. And I'm not talking a big portion here (hence why we ask for 6) I'm talking less than an ounce per side. So I kindly ask the waitress why we were being charged $19 for ranch if we've never been charged for it before, and I asked her if it was really $3.16 for a single side of ranch or if it was a typo when we had been there the day prior and were not charged for it. I get it if they just started charging for it, most places do and it makes sense when you ask for 6 of them, trust me I get it! But I just wanted some clarity on that for future reference like I'm sure anyone would have, especially if you've been going there for 4 years and it has never been a charge. Instead of clarifying or explaining like I believe any normal person would, she says very loudly for the entire restaurant to hear in the rudest tone, "So do you not want to pay for the food?". At what point did I say we weren't going to pay or did not want to pay for our meal? So I responded, "We have no problem paying for our food or we wouldn't be here. I am simply asking if $3.16 per side of less than an ounce of ranch is correct. It's almost the same price as a side of your french fries, so I am just making sure that is correct." Changes her whole tune and says, "oh my gosh, it shouldn't be $3.16 per side it is $1.50." I told her that was fine, all we wanted was clarity. We paid the check, still tipped her and we left.
It's not the food that will keep me from going back, it's the service. Acting like that when you have paying customers is crazy. Hopefully they come to their senses and do better, such a shame for waitresses to be the reason people...
Read moreWe stopped by Marion's on our way through on vacation because it had high reviews on Google Maps. (4.5*)
We stood for a while at the "hostess stand" as it asked us to please wait to be seated. One of the waitresses was seen sitting and chatting at a booth while another was seen momentarily. There weren't a lot of customers so I don't understand the delay. Service picked up from there.
Out waitress brought our waters and took our order before the table of 8-10 next to us who was seated already. That was nice, because had she not we would have waited forever for our food.
I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries. The grilled chicken was nothing extraordinary but tasted fine and wasn't dry. The fries were really good. They were mildly battered in something with a seasoning that wasn't overwhelming. My only beef with this meal is the cornmeal on the top of the bun, I'm personally not a fan.
My husband had a Santa Fe salad. It is described as a house shell filled with spring mix and then topped with shredded cheddar, tomato slices and chopped crispy chicken. Served with honey mustard sauce on the side. He had ranch instead. He said it tasted good. The only thing "Santa Fe" about it was the taco shell. He did enjoy having the "fancy lettuce" instead of iceberg. He would have appreciated smaller pieces of chicken and tomato so he could eat it more easily.
When the food came out for the table next to us I could see it looked good. They mostly had breakfasty items.
I went to the restroom before we left on our travels. There were two stalls, one was blocked "out of order." I don't know if that is the issue but it stunk like a sewer in there.
We did not need a wheelchair spot to park this time, but there i only one that would work (not marked handicap) and beyond that, there aren't any handicap designated spots...
Read moreWhen we arrived, the waiting area was full and there were no employees to be seen. After waiting five minutes without an employee addressing us or the two parties that had been there before us without being acknowledged, I walked into the dining room and politely asked the staff member clearing a table is anyone was working the front. She replied that she would be with us in a moment. I thanked her and returned to the front.
This staff member did come to the front promptly and took the names of the waiting parties, advising it would be about a half hour wait. Unfortunately, she was clearly not happy about it.
There were four parties ahead of us and after they were seated, another staff member came out and sat us.
While waiting for our orders to be taken, the first staff member that put our name on the list came to stock silverware and napkins at our table and rudely accused us of seating ourselves.
If we weren't so hungry and hadn't already waited 40 minutes, we would have left.
Our server was polite, but not friendly. I will chalk that up to being so busy. It took more than ten minutes after being seated to take our orders.
The food we received was good. Unfortunately, they were out of several items, including the homemade cinnamon rolls they were advertising on an A frame when you walked in.
It is unacceptable to wait so long to even be greeted or addressed and treated so rudely when when asking for assistance. And the accusation that we sat ourselves after I had to seek her out to even be put on the wait list is mind boggling to me.
Needless to say, we will not return. This was our first...
