Taco Del Mar — Restaurant in Idaho

I don’t normally take the time to sit down and write reviews, but after my recent experience at Taco Del Mar, I feel like it’s important to give credit where credit is due. I had the pleasure of being helped by an employee named Micheal, and I have to say, he is an absolute gem of a person and a shining example of what great customer service should look like. From the moment I walked in, Micheal greeted me with genuine warmth and a big smile. It wasn’t the kind of forced, “I’m just doing my job” type of greeting—it felt real, like he truly cared that I was there. He was so personable and friendly, and it instantly set a positive tone for my entire visit. I noticed he wasn’t just this way with me; while I was waiting, I watched him interact with several other customers, and every single person received the same kindness and attention. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food here. The prices aren't too bad either. For about $20, we had a taco salad with white fish, three tacos (shredded beef, ground beef, and pork), and a chicken quesadilla. The fish in the salad was rather boring, looked like a fish stick broken into pieces. The salad was fresh, and it was filling. The tacos were varied; the pork was best. The pork had a perfect flavor to blend with the spicy salsa and the rest of the taco toppings. The shredded beef seemed to lack spices, thought the texture was right. The ground beef seemed over cooked, but the spices were spot on. The quesadilla is a must order. It was the star of the meal. The cheeses were melted perfectly, and the meat was hot. In all, it's a bit pricey for a "fast food," but it satisfied the hunger. If hungry in the area again, I'd choose...

So I went to Taco del mar today ( July 29,2021 at 1130) as I do all the time (to get the taco salad on a plate)and got shorted big time. The chick behind the counter(the younger one) tried to give me half portions of everything, when usually they fill the plate. She looked put out that I didn't want to except the tiny portions she was trying to give me. Will NEVER go back. I will tell everyone I know in the Boise area to never go there. If that is how they are going to do business, then they should just shut it down. The other woman at the register saw it and did nothing. So I paid, (no tip)and left....
