Mario's Pizza — Restaurant in Illinois

Debated on posting a review since not only have I been coming to this very place for over 30 years, I’ve grown up living down the street as a child, even worked for the company a short period when I was younger and NEVER have I been so disappointed. As soon as we walked in we weren’t greeted by friendly faces but 3 employees at the bar two of which were sitting. Takes a minute but one gets up to ask how many in the party. We were seated. Almost instantly a server came over asked for drink order. And then took off for a long period of time before even attempting to come back and take the order. Mind you it’s myself and one other person and two other tables total in the restaurant. I order an appetizer and never received before food which in itself took extremely long to get.Server never comes and checks on us and other servers cleaning the floors. I have never seen such crappy service. I do not feel it was just our server but in general a whole environment issue. Rachel was our server but not any of the other staff paid any attention to us either. I hope this helps push the staff back to friendly and acting like they like the job they have. Went for the first time and man we were not disappointed, everyone said their food was great, but what I had was the meat pizza which is a must loved all the toppings on it were very flavorful. Just the right amount of everything. Then I also got the Lasagna which is some of the best I've had, so this is also a must get. On the side salads they are not side salads they are a full salad which two people can eat. Love that they make homemade Ranch dressing which makes all the difference. The Garlic bread is also good. I wanted to get the Snickers cheesecake but after all I had I couldn't eat anymore. I would of got it to go but we had other stuff to do after, then an hour and half drive back. But I can't wait to go back. The one thing I wouldn't recommend is their Bloody Mary's, I didn't care for them they tasted like pizza I fell like they should of added maybe a cheese covered bacon strip with it. I found this place recently while looking for restaurants to go to for my birthday. I was a tad worried about some reviews that were placed on here, being apparent cockroach problems. However, I decided it would be fine, seeing as I want to try more local places. At first glance, I was given a good impression of the place. The outside looked very nice, inside looked clean and decorated, and the service was great! The service time was very quick, being around 20 some minutes for a pretty large amount of food. I personally got the Cheesy Italian Bread, Bacon Cheese Fries, and the Pasta Platter, with the Meat Ravioli and Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken, Broccoli, and Bacon, all of which were very good!
