⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I walked into Jerusalem Cafe in Independence, MO, not expecting much—but I left completely blown away. This place is a hidden gem that overdelivers on quality, freshness, and value. I started with the lentil soup, and it was nothing short of fantastic. Earthy, hearty, and deeply flavorful, it came topped with a dash of sumac seasoning that added just the right amount of tang. It’s the kind of soup that warms your soul and tells you the kitchen here takes pride in every detail. For the main course, I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich—and it might be one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The chicken was tender, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped in soft, fresh pita with crisp veggies and a creamy, savory sauce. Every bite was balanced and satisfying. The portion was generous, especially considering the reasonable price. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the space was clean and welcoming. You can tell this is a family-run spot that puts care into everything they do. Pro tip: Don’t leave till you try the Turkish coffee. It’s rich, smooth, and the perfect end to a stellar meal.

I really wanted my first trip to New Jerusalem Cafe to be a great experience, but I’m afraid I did not leave having a positive experience. I got the Shawarma Platter with chicken. I was disappointed the platter didn’t come with hummus! And the pita was cut up into tiny bits and was under the chicken. The pita was gummy and had soaked up the juice fro. The shawarma. The pita wasn’t edible. If you are bringing kids, you might want to swing by McDonalds first. The kids meals are all $10!!! That is crazy expensive and they wouldn’t even eat the Pita Pizza because it had hard thick white cheese all over it. If you are seeking good Mediterranean food, I would suggest a drive to Lee’s Summit and go to Sahara. The food is way too expensive and will not blow your socks off. One positive note, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was clean and easy going.

Dine-in experience was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and flavors were unique, yet familiar. Portions are filling. Gyro meat was delicious on both the sandwiches and salad. Greek salad dressing was unusual and more orange citrus flavored than typical Greek dressing, but was delicious - would definately eat again. Fries were tasty. Pita had great flavor, but was a bit dry (especially on the edges) - almost like it had been warmed for too long. Deserts were also delicious: Baklava was fresh, crisp, and flavorful. Halvah was a delight, with flavors like a plain crunchy meringue, rice crispy treat, and peanut butter combined - the light chocolate syrup drizzle was an added plus. Definately Recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jerusalem Cafe, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped in, the aroma of exotic spices greeted me, setting the tone for what was to come.

The menu was a treasure trove of Middle Eastern delights, and it was evident that a great deal of care had gone into selecting the finest and freshest ingredients. Each dish was a testament to their dedication to perfection. The flavors were an exquisite dance on the palate, a harmonious blend of spices, herbs, and textures that transported me to the heart of the region.

One standout dish was the hummus - velvety smooth, with a hint of smokiness from the tahini and a burst of freshness from the drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil. It was evident that the chickpeas had been meticulously cooked to achieve that ideal consistency. The falafel, crispy on the outside and incredibly tender on the inside, showcased the artistry of using the right mix of herbs and spices.

As I savored the kebabs, I marveled at how perfectly they were cooked - juicy, succulent, and infused with the flavors of the marinade. The saffron rice was a fragrant masterpiece, each grain distinct and infused with saffron's unique aroma.

The attention to detail extended to even the simplest components, like the freshly baked pita bread. It was warm, pillowy, and served straight from the oven. The aroma of the bread alone was enough to whet my appetite.

It was clear that the restaurant's commitment to freshness was unwavering. The salads were bursting with vibrant colors, and the vegetables were crisp and full of life. Even the desserts, like the baklava, were a symphony of textures and sweetness, showcasing the chef's mastery of balance.

In conclusion, my experience at Jerusalem Cafe was a journey through the flavors and aromas of the region. The dedication to perfection and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients were evident in every bite. It's not just a restaurant; it's a culinary adventure that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking an authentic Middle Eastern...

First time going to Jerusalem Cafe today. Honestly, easily one of the best places I've ever been! The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was exceptional and THE STAFF—Polite, friendly, and extremely helpful.

We ordered the Original Gyros (Beef & Lamb) with Cajun Fries and Yellow Saffron Rice, and the Grilled Kabob Sandwich (Beef Kifta) with Greek Salad and Lentil Soup. Phenomenal, all of it! As well, we ordered the Famous Falafel, some Spanakopita, and their delicious Famous Lemonade (Blueberry & Mint). Nothing we ordered was a let down and, in fact, exceeded every expectation we had. While I cannot speak to the authenticity of the food, as I know very little, I will say again, the food was PHENOMENAL!

Restrooms were clean and well maintained. The dining area clean, well organized, and fashioned in very appealing and fun decorative style.

We live about 6 minutes away from Jerusalem Cafe and I can say without a single doubt in my mind, we will be returning on a regular basis. This may even be our new favorite place to grab a bite out. Never close....
