My daughter's graduation was held here. I don't know if it was a school security issue, venue security, or IPD. It was overcrowded so people were finding ANYWHERE to watch the graduation. Friends of ours ended up in a box after they gave up their seats to some elderly people. The Independence Police came and harassed them about being in the box and were very rude. My 16-year-old daughter and some people around her were harassed by other people. And we were in the handicap section with our disabled mothers (in wheelchair and scooter). They crowded so many wheelchairs in that section, you couldn't get out. Complete hazard. Can't imagine that passing fire code. Total bottleneck and people refused to move to let anyone out. Getting the moms out of the building was a nightmare. I've seen much better at bigger, more populated venues.
The graduations are held too close together, so as one school is finishing up, the other one is trying to get there and it made traffic a nightmare. I don't know if they kept up with the number of tickets, but it was overcrowded and I'd heard they ran out of seats.
People were in the parking lot, selling roses. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but FYI, in case you forgot and wanted something.
TIPS: If you're going to a graduation there, go EARLY. Even if the ticket says they're not letting people in until a certain time, that was not true and we didn't get great seats even being there early. So many reviews said there's not a bad seat in the house, but if you're there to watch your kid graduate and want to take pictures, that's not true. We had a great view of the graduates' backs and the rails were in the way of our view. The line was VERY long from early on. Some parents we know came later and weren't allowed in. By the time they finally got in, the graduation had already started.
If you bring someone to an event in a scooter or wheelchair, I recommend staying put for a WHILE after everything is over, until everything clears out. It was too crowded to move, people don't get out of the way or pay attention. One lady ran into my mom's wheelchair and...
Read moreWent to the Keith Sweat concert on June 22nd using tickets I won. The parking was disorganized chaos and took us damn near 45 minutes of the concert to find a parking spot. We were in Section 113 row A and when I say those seats are so small and bunch you up, I felt like I was back in my 3rd grade desk. Then to top it off there was so much cigar, cigarette and weed smoking INSIDE the arena, I thought Snoop Dogg was in the building.
Last, and certainly not least, because I was feeling overwhelmed, nauseous and light-headed by the smoke and heat, I had to step outside to catch my breath. When I tried to re-enter the concert with tickets I won from the radio station, Top Flight Security (The Senior Version) told me I could not come back in unless I purchased 2 more tickets. Top Flight Security should have told me BEFORE I went outside that I would be able to re-enter, instead of waiting until I was ACTUALLY OUTSIDE! I had a medical emergency called needing to breathe. While weed is legal in Missouri, you should have more staff to reinforce removing people using it INSIDE the arena. Cable Dahmer Arena, it's going be a long time before I visit again, I'll stick with...
Read moreI recently attended a high school graduation ceremony at the Cable Dahmer Arena, and I must say, the venue itself was impressive. The arena provided a spacious and welcoming environment that was well-suited for such a significant event in our lives. The staff was accommodating, ensuring that the ceremony went smoothly and that all graduates and guests felt honored.
The sound system and acoustics were excellent, allowing everyone to hear the speeches and music clearly. The seating was comfortable with a good view of the stage from all angles, making it a memorable experience for both the graduates and their families.
However, I am removing one star due to the parking lot and traffic situation. Despite the joyous occasion, the departure was somewhat marred by the disorganized traffic flow, which resulted in a 30-minute delay just to get out of the parking lot. This aspect could certainly use some improvement to match the otherwise wonderful experience inside the arena.
Overall, the Cable Dahmer Arena is a fantastic venue for large events, such as a high school graduation, but be prepared for some potential delays when...
