After seeing the review about the $2 tacos from 5-6pm I promptly confirmed this detail (it's actually 2.50 per taco) then paid them a visit.
Evening prices are an average of $15, while the taco platter (with beans and rice and 3 tacos) is normally 12.
The tacos were stuffed with lots of meat! 2 tacos and 2 glasses of iced tea later I was pretty stuffed. Tacos offered for this deal were the lime pulled pork, chicken (blackened, grilled, fried), grilled mahi tuna, and fried lobster. I tried pork, fish, and chicken. Tuna was a little spicier than most but not too spicy. Pulled pork was not too salty and again tasted delicious (this was probably my favorite). Chicken was... well a very good chicken taco.
The 2.50 taco deal is available all day tuesday and every night from 5-6 (including sunday).
Unfortunately, the soft drinks are a bit much considering the price of beers. (2.50 for a soft drink w/refills and 3.00 for a bottle of landshark beer)
I also ordered their Wahoo Dip served with fresh homemade kettle chips for about 8 or 9 and again the portion was very generous and the food was beyond excellent.
Service speed was anywhere from timely to within reason. They kept are drinks refilled and made sure we were happy. Unfortunately, I did not get to check out their lunch menu, but I'm sure that's good as well and perhaps a little bit lower in price.
Overall I enjoyed my experience and would recommend others try out this place sometime. I'll be sure to come back and try...
Read moreA great restaurant in the Indian Harbor beach area This restaurant, I believe, is the one of a kind. It is located in a building in front of Lowe’s close to A1A. There is plenty of parking owing to the lots along 2 sides of the restaurant and an entire parking lot behind the building. It is in the corner lot of a building of shops. It has a Polynesian/surfing look to its sign and many of the decorations inside. According to their website, “Hula Moon is a modern take on the American tiki bars of the 1950’s and 60’s.” Their food is a mix of American pub food and Polynesian-style dishes like poke bowls, tacos, sandwiches, and seafood. They have a full liquor right in front of the door as you enter. The seating areas are a mix of booths and tables to the right and left of the bar along with some tables outside. We were greeted by a hostess and escorted to a table. They have a good mix of foods and dishes. We ordered the lettuce wraps, a Shanghai Shrimp Bowl, and a Black-n-Blue Steak Salad. All of these came out quickly and were delicious. Most appetizers run from $10-$15 and most meals are about $15-$20. The location was clean and very relaxing. The staff was pleasant. The prices were reasonable for the economy. Overall, it was a pleasant experience that I would try again and recommend to anyone wanting a good meal...
Read moreWe decided to try out Hula Moon for my husband's bday dinner with my parents who live in Melbourne. We were not disappointed. We arrived early, 5:30 on a Saturday night, and it was not busy yet (but it did fill up by the time we left).
We started with the Lava Flow Piña Colada, (Absolutely Delicious) and the Wahoo dip with kettle chips. The dip was cheesy and addicting; I had to fight my parents to get a bite! (◠‿◕)
My dad and I had the Mongo Beef bowl. The beef tips were flavorful and tender and the added toppings were all good. I would definitely order again. Mom got the coconut shrimp. It was a large portion of 10 shrimp and a heaping mound of rice. She enjoyed it, but did say the rice could use some salt. My husband ordered the Luau Pork plate. The pork portion was large and it was tender and tasty. He tried the Hawaiian fried rice and enjoyed it. He commented he liked it more than our cilantro rice. We were too full to try dessert, but next time I would like to try the sweet plantain dessert.
The service was great too! Our server was very friendly, answered any questions we had and was quick to refill drinks. She was attentive without hovering. The kitchen was quick to get our food out. Overall, I recommend...
