Are at this cracker barrel last night 11/19. Have eaten there multiple times and everything was great. Last night was awful. The restaurant was nowhere near full but we were told it would be 25 minutes to be seated. It was about 8:00 p.m. Several empty tables and we only had to wait about 15 minutes. We were seated and waited 15 minutes for a server. She had 3 other tables in our section. We ordered drinks and our meals. Drinks were served after 20 minutes and had to ask for straws three because she kept forgetting them. 3 of us ordered breakfast, one had chicken n dumplings. We waited 45 minutes for our food. Keep in mind the place was not that busy, still lots of empty tables. The breakfast food was not hot. The chicken n dumplings meal was fairly warm, warmer than the breakfast. 2 breakfasts included EASY OVER eggs, one order was served well done. We had waited so long for the food we just went ahead and ate it. We had to ASK twice for refills. She had told us twice she was bringing biscuits and cornbread so we had something while we were waiting but kept forgetting to bring those too. Finally got those after asking for them after we got our meal. I have eaten there MANY times and not had service or food this bad. The table in front of me complained and she said there was nothing she could do about the food but she did send a manager to them. I'm unsure how that was resolved. The table behind me complained amongst themselves about how long it was taking. My order was incomplete as was my grandson's. I think she made 4 trips to the table bringing the missing items. All in all it was a miserable meal and very poor service. Will rethink stopping there. anytime soon. No, we didn't complain to al manager. We just wanted to eat and get out of there. I wasn't going to try to get anyone in trouble. I've been a server and I now sometimes things like this happen but seems like there needs to be better supervision in the kitchen and more...
Read moreI've eaten at many, many Cracker Barrel restaurants throughout my life. None of them really stand out as anything particularly special, and this one was typical of that statement. The service was great. That aspect does deserve 5 stars but the rest just couldn't keep up. The food was just...ok, with the biscuits (they call them rolls) being the best thing I ate. Soft and buttery, they taste just like the homemade biscuits my grandmother made growing up. Everything else was pretty bland. I had a craving for fried okra for quite some time before my visit so, naturally, I ordered some and was pretty disappointed. It didn't taste like a thing. If something could be described as having literally no flavor, that would be it. The meatloaf was decent, but not much better than one of the Bob Evans cook in your microwave meals. The hash brown casserole was fairly tasty but I could tell it was a popular side item because I was served barely a quarter cup of it. Not even enough for a toddler. The store is on par with the rest of them. A lot of cute toys and clothing items; high priced but adorable. Not worth the cost to me though. The old fashioned and hard to find candies always make for a nice treat but I wouldn't recommend the pre-packaged fudge. It was $5.99 for a very small container and was honestly the worst I've ever had. It's not even worth trying! While both the host that seated us and the waitress that tended to us were incredibly friendly and polite, the two ladies that ran the registers bordered on rude. They didn't seem at all like they wanted to be there and were a standout disappointment. The restaurant, including bathrooms, were clean and we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. That was a plus. All in all, I'm tempted to give the place 3 stars except for the exemplary service we received from the host and waitress. They alone bought another star. Worth a trip for a cheap family meal but I don't recommend as a place to try and...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I came in expecting a warm meal to start off our day good. What we got was look-warm food after waiting approximately 40 minutes, and seeing guests who had arrived after us get their meals first. My poor girlfriend was so hungry at the time; She ended up settling on eating the tough pancakes she was served. After waiting an additional 10-15 minutes I got my food which wasn't even what I had originally ordered, and it was still not hot but warmer than the food that I got before. To make up for the mishap, I was told by my server that I could either get a free dessert or a discount on my meal. I took the latter option, and she came back with the check saying her boss took $6 off the bill. As I'm looking closer at the bill I see I was charged $12 for my meal, when originally It was $15 and some change. Not the $6 discount I was promised. I mentioned it with my waitress, she dismissed it saying the their was apparently an upcharge for the REGULAR hash browns I ordered with my meal instead of the hash browns casserole. Not showing up anywhere on the bill, or on the menu, or being mentioned by my server when I initially ordered the hash browns, I was not convinced and at that point was quite fed up with the establishment. I told the person at the register I had a problem, and for the first during this escapade I finally see a manager. I tell her what's wrong and without apology she argues that she took off $5 from my meal. We come to agreement of taking my coffee of my meal. I pay, am not asked for my rewards, and am told I have to come back tomorrow with the receipt if I want to enter them in. All round, not a great experience and will not be coming here again, and would advise you don't either. Go somewhere else like...
