I'm giving 4 stars, but only because (1) staff was great and (2) Manager made amends for a disappointing meal. I went in on a Friday evening during peak hours. I sat at a table and ordered my drink and placed two separate to-go orders. It took over 45 mins. But everyone seemed to be working hard and the waitress, Mia, was extremely kind, attentive, and apologetic about the delay. Once the meal was packaged, she gave me plenty of extra sauces and utensils and things for my meals. My commute to my hotel was just minutes away and after the first few bites, every bit of the food was awful. The steak & shrimp hibachi had little flavor..but edible. The 3 rolls of sushi I had were not good. None of them. There was just something ....off. I don't want to insinuate anything, but I've eaten A LOT of sushi and...it...was...gross! I called the restaurant and discussed only my concern with the sushi rolls. After talking to the manager, he agreed to refund me for the rolls upon the return of the food. Luckily, I was close and able to bring back the uneaten food. Had I not been, I probably would have given a lower rating. When arriving back at the restaurant, the staff was kind and gracious... not degrading or rude like some people can be when they think you're being a difficult customer.
All restaurants/food have their hiccups...doesn't mean the food wouldn't have been amazing on another day. I'd definitely give it another shot, specifically because of the...
Read moreWalked in and stood at the doorway for about 5 minutes before a server approached us, said nothing, and wiped the crumbs off a booth table into the booth seats. The server did not even look at us, turned and walked to the front. A second server looked at us standing by the door, then went about her business, again, with no acknowledgement. After another minute or so with no response from staff, I approached a server filling drinks to ask if we were waiting for seats or if we seat ourselves as there is no signage with any direction. The server replied with a curt "seat yourself". We wiped the crumbs off the seat and sat in the booth. We then waited another 10-15 minutes with the tables around us receiving service and ours not even receiving a "someone will be with you shortly". While we sat, 3 more families walked in, stood for 5 or so minutes without any acknowledgment, and left. We finally left without so much as a menu on the table.
Before anyone judges, I have worked multiple customer services jobs in various aspects of the business, both front and back of house. I'm usually a patient person when it comes to customer service, but this...
Read moreHonestly I am not impressed what so ever. We ordered the Miso soup which I will bet was made from a freeze dried mix the gyoza which was deep fried and tasted freezer burnt a salad which was not fresh what so ever it was turning brown and soggy and drenched in dressing to try and hide the fact that is wasn't fresh and a sushi bento box the rice was old the fish wasn't very fresh but wasn't turning bad yet and some tempura veggies which was the best part of the meal. I have gotten better Japanese food at a Chinese restaurant. I know I shouldn't expect much from a so called Japanese steakhouse which doesn't really have any good steak in a small town like Corydon Indiana but seriously this place sucks and is way over priced. The waitress was more interested in sitting on her chair and playing on her phone that dealing with customers. All around not a place I will ever go back to. I can't seem to understand what people see in this place. I guess they have never had good Japanese food before even Americanized...
