Flipdaddy's Brilliant Burgers - Corydon & Scottsburg — Restaurant in Indiana

1 of 2 Post I want to start by saying this is a long post, and I apologize in advance. This is a long time coming. A little backstory: we've been going to Flipdaddies since they VIP opening. Over time, it has become a running joke with the staff that my order is always the one that comes out wrong. I even questioned if someone in the kitchen disliked me only to be assured that the staff changes so much that this cannot be the case. This happens almost every time I go so, I don't get upset at all because I expect it to happen. The first big mess-up I remember was a few years ago when I ate brunch there and decided to get a meal to go for my father. I ordered a chicken-and-waffle and asked the bartender to put the butter and syrup on the side to keep the waffle from being soggy. I took it to my dad's only to find out that there was no chicken. I just laughed and was like really. On my way home I stopped at Flipdaddies and told the bartender. She was like, only you this could happen to. She went to the kitchen and came back, and I heard her talking to the other bartender. I figured out that the manager didn't believe me and the ladies was going to pay for it out of their pocket. At this point, I was eating there three or four times a week, and the ladies knew I wasn't going to lie about chicken. I told them they were absolutely not going to pay for it. I told them to give me another whole meal, and I would pay for it. The meal came out and I figured I better check it before leaving. Guess what? No chicken. The bartender went back to the kitchen to only figure out that since I had asked for nothing to be on my waffle and the butter and syrup to be on the side. The kitchen was taking it as no chicken. Do you think the manager came out to apologize for accusing me of trying to get free food? Nope sure didn't. Instead for months I got rude, unkind looks when this manager was there. I reached out to the owner with absolutely no response. Since then, almost every time I go, something is wrong with my order. To be fair, once they do get it right, the food is always good. So many people ask me why I even go there. The answer is simple. Our hometown doesn't have many options, this is where my kids like to go since they do have a bar, music and most people hang out. I take the good with the bad for those reasons. Fast forward to Sunday morning. Tracy and I like to go on Sunday at opening. It isn't busy, we like the bartenders that are usually there. Tracy ordered a hamburger. I ordered eggs, bacon, toast, and tots. I asked my eggs to be cooked done, over hard. Tracy's food came out fine. mine came out without the eggs. Our bartender ran back and grabbed them. Now, let me explain one thing. These girls know that my order is always wrong, so they are very good at making sure they write things like OVER HARD EGGS. The eggs looked great but were runny inside, so I asked for them to be sent back and cooked done. The second set came out even less done than the first, so I sent them back again. At this point, I see the manager come out - not with an apology-but just set the plate on the table. This is not the same manager that I had issues with over the chicken. I smiled and said, my order is never right so let me check before you leave. This manager looks at me and says I am a trained chef and maybe this wasn't the restaurant for me. At first, I wasn't sure if he meant that as something, I should be asking myself, or if he was directly suggesting I shouldn't return. But then he repeated it: "I am a trained chef, and maybe this restaurant isn't where you should come." This caught me completely off guard. Anyone who knows me knows that when I get mad or upset, I cry. Anyone who knows my husband knows he isn't going to stand there and let someone talk to us like that. Especially when we have supported this place since it opened. Tracy slammed his hand on the table and said, "You know what, buddy? You may be right. This isn't the place for us." Over a month ago, I had a waitress that was so incredibly rude that even my 13 ur old noticed it. In fact, it was the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. The waitress apparently didn’t expect me to leave a tip to she very rudely came back to my table and demanded her .97 cents back so she would receive her dollar back. Not knowing I was going and still did tip well beyond the 20% even though she definitely didn’t deserve it. I called and asked to speak with a manager (I got Mike on the phone) who repeatedly tried to offer me free food and despite many refusals on my part as I told him that’s not at all why I was calling he still insisted on sending a refund and also insisted I apply for a job.

Fast forward a month later (still no refund which I could care less about) I was told to apply for a waitress position and did so. I applied online, got a text to call the next day (which I did) and immediately received an interview the next day. The manager interviewed me, had me fill out an official application and then asked me more questions. During so a waitress came up to said manager and informed her that she had 2 customers who complained that out of the 3 times they’ve been there their order had been wrong every single time. The manager asked for her “handheld thing” that takes and stores orders and told her I took care of their bill. Frustratingly, the waitress asked if she could go to their table and the manager responded “Just let let them know to ask for me or Shelly next time they come in.” After I answered said questions she asked me if I had time for a 2nd interview with her district manager which I replied “Of course!” She then came back about 5 min later and said her manager (Shelly) was busy and would call me that night or the next day for the 2nd interview. After never receiving a call, I called back and the manager (Shelly) who was supposed to call me said she was busy with meetings and hung up on me. After calling again a few days later and asking for Mike (a Mon) I was told they were closed and would get a call on Tuesday which never happened.

In this day and age where you can literally work/eat ANYWHERE, well above minimum wage, why would anyone tolerate this behavior from management? Customers or employees…I will happily take my business and...

Recently paid our first visit to Flipdaddy's and I really liked it! We were planning a day trip to the Indiana Caverns and wifey ran across Flipdaddy's so we thought "What the hell?"

About a 45 minute drive from Louisville, Flipdaddy's is easy to find right off the expressway in Corydon. We had pre-perused the menu before we visited to we both basically knew what we were going to order when we got there.

On this Saturday afternoon we were seated immediately and our server came to greet us right away. Since we had pre-shopped we went ahead and placed our orders when she took our drink orders. The restaurant was pretty busy, but not hectically. Our server was Courtney and she was great and very personable. She had a number of tables and did a great job of keeping everything under control.

Flipdaddy's has a pretty laid back, welcoming atmosphere. There are a number of screens around the dining room with sporting events, but nothing obnoxiously loud or distracting. The overhead music was 80s, and I am OK with that! Dining options are a combination of booths and tables, with seating available at the bar as well.

I don't know if fast food delivery is the norm for Flipdaddy's or we were just here on a good day, but we got our meals in about 10 minutes. I had the Chuck Norris. It was supposed to be spicy. It had a decent spice to it and I was hoping for more, but I'm not complaining because it was great the way it was. I opted for fries with mine and a side of mayo (why do I get weird looks when I ask for mayo with fries?). The fries were awesomely seasoned and H O T. As in, right-out-of-the-deep-fryer hot.

The entire visible staff was busy and constantly in motion. From getting drink refills to taking orders to bringing food out to cleaning tables as soon as possible after it diners left, the staff was hustling.

Courtney was awesome and on the spot with drink refills and stopped by to chat for a few. We were genuinely saddened when the table that was next to ours decided to NOT tip her. Not cool, dude and his son that thought she didn't deserve a tip. We were there for half of your visit and she did a great job for you.

Our first trip to Flipdaddy's was great. Can't wait to...
