Saturday, 7:00PM. Worst service ever. Never had trouble here before: accurate orders, responsive staff, but apparently the adult management left the place to the kids, and they are doing whatever they felt like doing.
We have 4 kids, and each could articulate what meal they wanted. All asked for sausage with their meals, except the 4th who specified he wanted to be different and got bacon because he hadn't had it in a while. My wife ordered the cheddar baked potato soup with bacon and chives. My order wasn't complicated: steak and eggs meal, completely well done, eggs scrambled with cheese, and hash browns extra crispy. For my bread choice, I told her, they usually don't let me substitute for pancakes, but if she can, I'd have pancakes. If not, I'll have banana bread with the meal, but still want 2 pancakes, so add them as a side if necessary. When she repeated the whole order, she had 5 kids meals instead of 4, my wife caught that before she walked off to put it in.
She came back shortly after and asked if I wanted the eggs on the steak, I said, no, it's a meal, steak and eggs? 2 separate things. She replied, oh, thats right.
When the food came, first drop off was 2 kids meals and my wife's soup. No rolls came with her soup, and so we asked. We also noticed there was no bacon or chives on the soup, but we let that one go. When she returned, she said they just put some rolls in and it would be a while. Then the rest of the food came, and what a fiasco. I had some kind of a cheesy hash brown mess, with plain scrambled eggs, and the steak. I told her it would be ok, I'd eat it, but it wasn't what I ordered. She insisted on making it right, so I kept the steak and she took the eggs and hash browns back. I clarified: scrambled eggs with cheese, and plain hash browns extra crispy.
My wife and I noticed our son's bacon was sausage, but he didn't remember or remind us that he asked for bacon, so we were not going to bring that one up. When she returned, the eggs were right, but the hash browns were a super thick stack of potato mush with only the slightest of area slightly browned.
When she brought the bill, she asked if everything was ok, and I said, sure, except for the order being wrong. She then went in to a short tirade about the kitchen staff, and if she cooked it, it would be right. I reminded her we were still waiting for the rolls, and we would take them to go. I love the clueless look of "what are you talking about" on people's faces just before they remember things they forgot. She did bring us 3 hot rolls to go.
Long story short, she did not or could not accurately convey our order to the kitchen. If the kitchen got the order intact or not, they could not deliver. Then, passing the blame and bad-mouthing the cooks, like "not my fault"? I'm sorry, but if what the kitchen gives you isn't right, you don't take it out to the customer. I have no problem with someone re clarifying the order, but once you know what the customer wants, your job is to ensure that's what the customer gets. Saying, "well if I cooked it for you it would have been right" does not absolve you of responsibility for serving the wrong stuff.
As I started out saying, we haven't had this kind of trouble here before, so it must have just been that the adults left the room and the kids were running the place. I don't know the schedules, so I don't know when you might get good or bad service, but I'd bet whenever the main crew and good management is present, you might get better service.
My advice? Good luck. It's not just here, but across the board, I'm finding customer service is severely lacking, at virtually every restaurant or store I'm regularly...
Read moreNever had their biscuits & gravy so I wanted to try them. The color threw me off & they overload you with gravy for two biscuits. Taste was average so no complaints. I Googled Bob Evans and after I clicked on the location I wanted, Google had an option to order pick up. It was super duper easy to place my order & I was even able to pay with Google pay so I didn't have to fish my card out! Pick up time stated 12:49 (15 minutes from time order was placed) so I stopped a gas station. I arrived early to Bob Evans at 12:40 so I went in to let them know I was there just in case my order would get done before 12:49. The cashier asked if I already placed my order and I replied yes. She looked through a couple orders then asked if I need to place an order. I replied no. She then said, "Sorry I was confused ". Okay. Not sure how, but okay. She walked back to view the order screen to not find my order so she asked a coworker. While they were talking a third (helpful) coworker asked me if I needed to place my order. I replied no, again. She okay just checking. The lady the cashier asked for help then walks over to me to ask me if I placed my order online & did they charge my card. I said yes I ordered & it asked for my card's info but I honestly hadn't checked my bank statement I just assumed it did as it gave me a pick up time. She said there is no order here for you so I can just place an order now. I said oh it's okay if it didn't go through just never mind it (I was on my way to work). As she and I were talking, the helpful coworker found my order already bagged up & ready to go and placed it between me & the lady I was speaking too. The lady I was speaking to then said "Oh, well that's why we couldn't find it" 🤷🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️ That whole orderal took approximately 2-3 minutes which would put the time at around 12:43. I said all of that to say, if you order via Google at this Bob Evans please show up earlier than the estimated pick up time & let them know to check the...
Read moreThis was my second time visiting this restaurant. My first time visiting I was not impressed with the food or service but was willing to give them a second chance. During my second visit, the first thing I noticed was no one was at the front area to greet or seat me. A gentleman a minute or two later came to seat me. As I was greeted by my waitress she took my drink order and returned a few minutes later to take my dinner order. I ordered a burger and fries and also stated I wanted a side salad. She then left to put my order into the kitchen and my food order took approximately 30 minutes to receive. When my waitress brought my food, there were no fries. I asked if my meal came with fries and she assumed that I wanted the salad in place of my fries. She tried to fix the order by telling me she could put an order of fries in if I wanted. Rather than wait for my burger to get cold I told her that I would settle for the salad and burger. I also asked her if the salad would take place of my fries as my side, she replied yes. When my waitress left, I noticed I had no silverware and had to walk to the front to get a set of silverware. When I got my bill I noticed they up-charged me for the salad, which I thought should have been waived for the inconvenience. When I went to pay my bill, I noticed that another person walked in and was waiting to be seated. It took five minutes for me to pay my bill while the cashier had to grab a manager to free up his terminal, all the while the other person behind me had to wait to be seated. This restaurant will not be seeing me again unfortunately. They had approximately six other parties in the entire restaurant and were not very efficient with their staff. The restaurant wasn't very clean and the food was average. I get the impression that this restaurant doesn't care if they stay in business or not. I hope they take this...
