My husband and I visited Indianapolis for a concert late last year and he rented a room here for us to share with two family members on November 11th.
We had arrived earlier than we were expecting, so we stopped by to see if we could check in early for an added fee, and were told it hadn't been cleaned yet and to come back at 1pm. No big deal. We found a place to have lunch at and came back around 1:30 or so. When we returned, the woman at the front desk did not even acknowledge our presence and continued doing various things around the desk, then picked up the phone and appeared to be resuming a phone call that had been placed on hold. It would have been nice to be acknowledged with something as simple as "I'll be right with you." After she was done with the call, my husband refreshed her memory and said we were told to come back at such and such time to possibly check in earlier than 3pm. She states the room still hadn't been cleaned. This is roughly 1:50-2pm. We take our luggage and go have a seat at tables near the lobby to wait. At 3, my husband goes over to check in. She tells us it's showing the room STILL hadn't been cleaned. One of the housekeeping staff happens to be standing nearby, so the woman at the front desk asks her about it, to which the housekeeper says that it in fact HAS been cleaned... so the entire time we were sitting down there, it was more than likely cleaned and ready for us. Whichever system this company uses apparently needs to be updated since the accuracy is questionable; perhaps the person at the front desk can contact housekeeping to double check if the room has been cleaned or not when guests are waiting to check in?
The room itself seemed to be clean, and the whirlpool tub was extremely nice and roomy. The sofa bed, however, was absolutely TERRIBLE. There was the hugest dip in the already uncomfortably thin mattress. PLEASE replace your sofa beds! My husband and I went to the front desk that night to see if there was anything that could be done because I felt horrible for our family members who were going to have to sleep on that poor excuse for a bed. The gentleman, Aaron (apologies if misspelled), was SO sweet and helpful. He let us know he would check and see if there were any available rollaway beds, and if so he would bring one up to our room, free of charge, because of the situation. Thankfully, there was and he brought it up within minutes! He is definitely an asset to the company and we greatly appreciated his assistance. We folded the sofa bed back up and pushed the rollaway bed up next to it.
The breakfast was good and the sausage gravy was surprisingly seasoned nicely. Even though we had a rocky, disappointing check-in along with the sofa bed fiasco, I'm glad we were at least able to leave on a good note.
Overall, because of our experience we will likely not return to a Wingate By Wyndham...
Read moreI am normally very happy with my stay within this hotel chain. However this time I paid over $230 for a room that had a hole punched in the door and blood 🩸 spots on multiple walls of the room. I was told an “incident” happened there the night before…which is understandable-these things happen. But LACK of proper clean up afterwards was shocking to me. I went downstairs to address the issue but the gentleman working was swamped with check-ins…I did not want to be a “ignorant customer” and possibly cause them to lose business, so I decided to wait until I returned later. I checked in at 3:30pm…due to attending an event I did not return to the room until about 3am…and spoke with someone at that time about the issue. She took multiple pictures of the room due to blood spots on doors, door jams, on the wall behind the desk in the sitting area, on the wall behind the nightstand…etc. I did request the manager “Lisa” to contact me so that I can be comped for that room…they were booked & surrounding other hotels, so I couldn’t get another room. (That was on Sunday 1/23/22 and today is 1/25/22…I have heard nothing.) I paid for this room because I wanted the in-room soak tub…but considering the lack of cleanliness of the blood 🩸 in the room, we felt it was safe to assume the soaking tub probably didn’t get much effort either. And I forgot to take photos of the build up in the corners of the shower! 🤢 The attendant who came up to look at my room took pictures, was very pleasant & customer friendly…she was clearly appalled herself. Before checkout I pulled out the nightstand so housekeeping had the ability to address a toenail, a broken finger nail, and dust balls that resembled tumbleweed from an old western movie! 🤷🏻♀️ I am compassionate to the challenges that companies are facing with lack of employees, retention, and overall quality work ethic. But an OSHA CERTIFIED person is always responsible to clean up a “Hazmat” Situation…and I would think with the Housekeeping Supervisor having knowledge of an incident taking place in a room involving bodily fluids…the upMOST attention to detail would be exercised. I have zero expectations of anything less than a FULL REFUND! And they will NO LONGER have a customer within my surrounding network, my company & it’s multiple...
Read moreWE FOUND A COCKROACH IN OUR ROOM! My friends and I checked into this place after driving down from Canada. When we first arrived we spend over half an hour trying to check-in because the staff couldn't figure out their system. Once we were checked-in the elevator rattled and droned on, seeming to struggle even taking 4 people up to the second and third floor. There were multiple occasions where we walked into the elevator, hit the button to go down to the first floor, felt the elevator move for a bit and when the doors opened we came back up to the second floor! Our rooms were something else too. We had two rooms with king-sized beds. The rooms had water damaged ceilings, cracked and broken tiles on the bathroom floor (which you could easily cut your foot on), vandalized the shower walls (someone drew with markers), holes in the shower walls, bedsheets that didn't fit the beds and kept coming undone, pillows that were fit for a couch rather than a bed because they were so small and blinds that couldn't close and let a lot of light in. HOWEVER, the best part about our rooms were that we found an actual cockroach in there! We came back from the basketball game in downtown Indiana and turned on the lights to find a happy little roommate scurrying on the walls. We instantly killed it and informed the front desk about it. The lady seemed very concerned and came up to see it. She apologized for it, which is a step in the right direction, but threw her hands up in the air and said that the hotel doesn't have any other rooms available for us to move to. If we stayed in the room we would also get charged for it too. Since we had friends staying in the same hotel and didn't have access to a car we didn't really have a choice. Morning rolls around and we come down to check out and speak with a manager. Lisa was working and "addressed" our concerns. We told her what happened and she just said "yup" in a straight face and proceeded to tell us that someone must have brought in the cockroach. She literally had no reaction to this issue whatsoever and it honestly seemed like a regular occurrence here. Needless to say, we will not be staying...
