I've never been one to put a business on blast on social media, or anywhere else for that matter. But, today something happened that I just can't let stand. My eldest son is on the spectrum. I take him to work and pick him up from the east side of Indy everyday. Today, traffic was awful... Worse than usual. So, we ended up taking city streets home and apparently everyone else had the same idea.
Long story short, we were running really late and I needed to pick up some food for my wife, who hadn't eaten. We like a little BK, so we decided to stop off at the BK on West Washington St. Because of the delay, my son was about to bust, so I dropped him off to use the restroom while I went through the drive thru, something we've done before. Btw, this was sometime between 4:40ish and 5:00 PM.
As he entered the store, a manager yelled at him that he had to buy something to use the restroom. My son told him that I was going through the drive thru and hurried into the restroom before there was a mess. The manager followed him into the restroom to yell at him again that he needed to buy something to use the restroom and that he had called the police. My son again told him that I was in the drive through. He left and joined me as I was waiting to get our food. After hearing what had happened, I circled around to talk to the manager.
I understand the need for security. I'm one of the pastors for an urban church with a preschool on the premises so I totally understand the need to watch who is on the premises. I also understand that my son is a bit scruffy looking. But, you don't treat people the way my son was treated. And, when I expressed my displeasure at his treatment, the manager, well, he wasn't receptive to my input.
There are ways to handle that situation and that wasn't it. Threatening someone who just needs to pee, especially when they've already told you that their parents were at the drive thru, with the police is unacceptable. And, with my son being on the spectrum, if the police had shown up, it could've ended horribly. All because of an unreasonable manager who refused to listen to someone that was suspicious to him. They will not be getting my...
Read moreWe chose the Burger King, because the parking lot was not packed, and we needed to get in and out quickly. Apparently, the cars we saw were mostly employee cars, since once we went in there were only two customers. As we were about to place our order, we heard "no more biscuits for 18min". Ok then, 2 croissantwiches and a pancake & sausage platter with a side of egg. We waited 15 minutes for MOST of our food. The side of egg...well, after 25 minutes, I went up to ask--again. At that point, the frontline worker--fed up with the slack-asses in the back--walked back and made the eggs herself. Without washing her hands first. No...just...no.
I feel comfort, though, in knowing that we weren't alone. For as we sat and ate, we watched a small yet significant parade of fellow customers get forgotten about and pissed off by their collective ineptitude--including the gentleman who had to get his toddler daughter out of the car/car seat and come inside because 3 attempts (drives around the building) to give a drive thru order was insufficient.
As we were leaving, the line inside was backing up, as someone--who HAD been able to order at the drive thru--needed to swap their order out for the correct one. I tapped the last guy in line on the shoulder and whispered "I hope you're not in a hurry." He decided to...

The woman working the speaker made me feel like I was in a restaurant. She spoke as if she walked up a table and took my order. When I ordered jalapeño bites she even suggested I get ranch with it because it’s delicious that way. When I ordered a half cut sweet tea she asked if I had a preference of more sweet or non sweet. I’m 35 years old and have eaten fast food 10 zillion times. I have never had someone make a suggestion nor ask such specific questions about what I wanted. If she had been the one who brought me my food I would have offered her a job working for me and stole her from you. Also.... Food was all fresh, fries and jalapeño poppers fresh out of the fryer and the whopper bun was so fresh I almost wished it had sat longer under the heat lamp because they’re really thick and fluffy when they’re fresh. I prefer that sit get old and flatten out. But that’s my preference. Last but not least. When I was asked if I prefer more sweet or u sweet I said 70/30 and it was perfect. That...
