Flap Jacks Pancake House — Restaurant in Indianapolis

The photos online is what made me want to dine here initially. I am familiar with the area but this was my first time dining here. Our server took about 10 minutes to greet us and since we waited that long we decided to put in our drink and food orders, which the server included in her greeting. This isn’t too much of a big deal but the wait time for the food and our absent server were the most annoying part. at the 15 minute mark we barely got asked about refills (i was drinking coffee which was cold when served to me initially) and at the 30 minute mark our food still hadn’t come. But we did get a side of apple sauce which was to come out with our food. Our server never stopped to check in before 30 minutes and i finally got a refill on coffee which was lukewarm at best. Finally after 45 minutes of waiting we get our food which our server hardly apologized for the wait. And get this….our food was cold. Literally room temperature. I was ready to go and my boyfriend stomached through it because we waited for so long. The server again was not around to even try to discuss the cold food. I am almost certain she knew it was cold because she hardly came back. There was no manager present from what I could see so there was no one there to speak with about the food or the service. I think if the server wasn’t always in such a hurry to leave the table I could have addressed most of my concerns. But she literally was like a chicken with her head cut off how fast she moved considering nothing was right or hot.

Today was our third visit to this location in 60 days. The first visit was amazing! Great food & service. Time two - the kitchen was a little slow along with the service, but acceptable. Today, we never got our food. We received our salads & soup that came with the wrap and tenderloin we ordered and then sat for 25 minutes with no sandwiches. Our server noticed the need for a refill, came back with water, took our plates, and said the food would be out shortly. This was just a few minutes after finishing our soup & salad. Then we didn't see her at our table again until we requested our check to leave. When she brought us our check, our food was then ready. When we got to the counter to pay and asked how things were, we advised of the wait and that we were leaving without receiving our entrées. We heard from the hostess about how busy they were (as I looked around a now half empty restaurant) and advised they must still not be caught up - which couldnt be 100% true because 2 tables that were sat after us had receives their food by the time we left our table. As a former restaurant manager, I'm familiar with the struggle. But there was not a visible manager trying to keep things moving and only our server...

Thank goodness the food saved the trip! The service was not good at all. When we walked in everything just seemed to be out of place. There was one girl at the register and she was also the host. She had to stop ringing customers out just to seat us. She never smiled or told us who would be waiting on us. Looked like maybe 2 waitresses helping a very packed house. We waited for a few minutes before our waitress came over. She never introduced herself nor smiled. We gave her our whole order because we had plenty of time to figure it out. I order coffee but did not get it when she brought the drinks. She didn't serve the drinks just put them in the middle and ran. I finally got up and asked her, while she was clearing off tables, if I could get my coffee (when I got it there was no spoon with it). Which seemed to piss her off. Finally our food came but with no utensils, which happened to ever table around us. Why would the hostess not bring those????
