Healthy Soul Indy — Restaurant in Indianapolis

After being recently diagnosed with IBS and having to cut a large swathe of food out of my diet while I'm in the elimination phase, one of the hardest hitters being no more garlic and onion, I was at a loss as to where I could go to eat out with such strict dietary restrictions. Especially since garlic and onions are in practically everything lol. But I saw this place recommended, and I do not regret checking it out in the slightest! The woman who took my order was very patient and understanding when I explained what I couldn't eat, and she helped me through the menu! The food was delicious! 😋 I got a Choose & Go with buckwheat soba noodles, soy ginger lime, bok choy, cabbage, and salmon. Every part of the dish, from the noodles to the veggies to the meat and the sauce, came out perfect! I'm so glad I came here, and I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in this...

I've been wanting to try this spot for a while, so I decided to drop by since I was in the area. The counter service was underwhelming. The woman assisting me was parked on her stool the entire time, picking her nails. As a first-time customer I was trying to figure out the menu which she explained as though it was a bother. I asked a question about the power greens and she seemed equally put-off that I asked a question. They were out of lamb, so I order beef. The food was just okay and the beef was not really tender. Perhaps I didn't order the right combination of things, but I didn't receive much feedback when I asked questions at the counter. I even asked what people like most since they didn't have lamb chops, and was told everything's good. I can deal with okay food for great service, but okay/average food and poor service is not a place I'll return...

I gave this restaurant 1 star, not because the food, the food is delicious but because of the overall customer experience. I live close to 30 minutes away from this place and I can only come on the weekends. Literally every time I come, they're closed...closed for catering closed for whatever the reason is, even though on Google it shows their business as being open. There's a number to call however, whenever I do try to call that number, I can never get a hold of anyone. So it's a waste of my time to drive 30 minutes to this restaurant only to discover that they're closed. This is really disappointing and frustrating because I love their food and had a craving for the veggie fried rice & potstickers. I'm all for supporting black businesses but a lot of them, including this one...lack professionalism....
