I ordered on Doordash and my food arrived hot which was exciting! To start off, the spring rolls were delicious!! Maybe the best I've ever had!
The Kaoy Teow with chicken was bland. It came with a small side of chili soy sauce but it was way too hot for me so I just added regular soy sauce. That made it better, but it was still lacking flavor. It looked different than the photo as well. I was expecting bigger chunks of chicken and more veggies. Also, the dumplings had an odd taste to them that I couldn't place. Overall, I think this place is worth another try. I definitely recommend the spring rolls though!
Editing to add: I ordered from here again today and was really disappointed. I ordered the Malaysian coconut fried rice with shrimp and the spring rolls again (since they were so delish last time!) The coconut fried rice has NO coconut flavor at all! No flavor in general honestly. So sad because I was really looking forward to it. There were only 5 shrimp with the tail on in the dish as well. The portion of rice was huge, it just didn't taste like much. The Spring rolls were also disappointing today because they were cold inside still. They must not have fried them long enough. I don't think I will give this place another...
Read moreBurmese food isn’t super common in most cities outside of Indianapolis, where the Greenwood area has a massive number of immigrants from Myanmar (especially people of Chin ancestry). Imbi’s menu boasts delicate flavors and a sensational mix of textures. In addition to excellent fish based rice noodle tapas/salads (“thoke”), a standout here is the laphet thoke (tea leaf salad); unlike many other restaurants whose tea leaf salads feel congested with salt and MSG, the flavors at Imbi are light and bright, combining fermented tea leaves (hello, caffeine!) with fresh garlic and the crunch of green chilis, cabbage, dried shrimp, sesame seed, and roasted nuts, swimming in a tide pool of tomatoes, lime, and subtly pungent fermented fish and fish sauces. What a treat...
Read morePlace reminds me of most small non chain restaurant or street stalls along the road in south east Asia where most people eat because the food was just great. Owner was really nice, greeted us and introduced himself as we did the same. We ordered Goat curry which was spot on. Served with just plain rice and chili soy mix it hit the spot. Fried rice with chicken is also one of the common street food found in Southeast Asian countries. Many variations but they’re just so good. We definitely will be back to IMBI....
