I only really give reviews if I experience outstanding service or absolutely horrible service. If I could give zero stars for India Cafe, I would. Terrible service.
I walked inside and, when greeted, said I would like to place a to-go order. The guy told me to wait a second because he was putting table orders in - totally fine, I waited. Then, when done, he walks away. Not a big deal. Then, another guy comes out to take my order. Halfway thru ordering, the first guy comes back, takes over the POS system to put more orders in and stops my order halfway thru. So rude. I politely mentioned I had been waiting and was in the middle of placing my order with the second guy. He said yes, your order is here and started naming off what I ordered - except, it wasn’t my order at all. It was something totally different. So then, he goes thru the POS system to get my order pulled up. When he finally did, I continued to finish my order.
Upon paying, the machine stopped working. Not his fault, it happens. But when I mentioned it wasn’t working, he got rude and corrected me. I politely turned the card machine to him to show him it wasn’t. He then reset machine.
I was told my food would be ready in 15-20 min. I didn’t receive my to-go order until 40 min later. Yes, you read that right.
I don’t care when things happen outside of people’s control because things happen! It’s life. However, the attitude and rudeness from staff, when I stayed polite and patient the whole time, was totally uncalled for.
My fiancé and I have ordered here before and it was also an awful experience and food was okay at best. Today, we only gave it another try because Amara Kitchen, which is right next door, is closed on Tuesday. We figured maybe today would be a better experience because sometimes restaurants have off days. Nope…still awful. We will NEVER order from here again. Rude staff and food is clearly not...

I intended to take out lunch (goat curry) after looking at the menu in the restaurant. The price on the menu is $15.99. The POS system printed a bill of $17.99 + tax for a total of $19.61. I questioned the cost and a manager (maybe owner) came out to address my concern. He proceeded to tell me that the price went up $1.00 (when it actually went up $2.00) and that is why the total was $19.61. Of course the math didn't make sense and he eventually stood corrected as his own POS system reflected $17.99 as the true cost. The manager/owner refused to honor the $15.99 listed in ALL of their menus and claimed that all of the menus are old. There was no notification at the beginning of the experience, on the menu, or even communicated until I questioned the amount, just a surprise increase on the bill. Fortunately, I had not dined in and was not presented with the surprise bill at the end of my meal (that clearly the manager/owner would not compromise on even though it is clearly error caused by the restaurant). Poor communication, poor business practice, poor customer experience. Advice: if you choose to eat here, question the cost as a surprise 12% increase certainly makes a difference when evaluating the value of your experience. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants in the area so a poor experience (and surprise price increases) before even trying the food will not help this restaurant in...
Read moreWow. We just finished eating the food we picked up from India Café, and we are happy. I don’t know what they do, well, I know exactly what they do. They follow the real recipes and do the right thing. They don’t dilute the sauce only to increase quantity nor use the cheapest ingredients and spices that lower the quality of food to make more profit like sadly too many restaurants do nowadays. We ordered chicken makhani (butter chicken curry), lamb saag (spinach curry), vegetable samosa, naan, and gulab jamun (dessert). They gave us cooked basmati rice with the food. Both curry sauces were very flavorful and right spicy level (chicken makhani was mild and lamb saag was a little spicy). I could see they used real spices in the curry. The consistency was right, flavor was right on the spot, and quantity was more than enough. Samosa was filled with plenty of potato filling which was very flavorful and tasted like it was really homemade. Gulab jamun was one of the best I’ve had in a very long time: the texture was moist and soft, the syrup was sweet with a hint of citrus zest. So good. We drove 30 minutes (one way) to the restaurant, and we will keep going back as long as they keep their standard. ...
