Eggholic was the best Indian food I have ever had. Now, Iāve grown up in Indiana suburbs, so my exposure to Indian cuisine is lacking, but Iāve been around, and nothing holds a candle to this place.
Iāll start with the food. I had the Chicken Kadai, which consisted of a mouthwateringly flavorful sauce, blanketing some substantial pieces of succulent, pull apart chicken. I expected good flavor and solid chicken, but what I got was a massive dish of excellently seasoned gravy and perfectly textured chicken. Five stars for sure. I also ordered some Roti, which they recommended, and I just gotta say it, Roti Naan. Its tortilla-like texture made for the perfect wrapping paper around my bite-sized gifts of Chicken Kadai.
And as I write this Iām still sipping the Desi Chai I ordered. In the past Iāve had watered down and sweetened versions of this tea, but this had a really nice spice to it, and delightful flavor.
I have to say, Iām a food first kinda guy, but the service and interior were definitely highlights for me. I expected to come in, find a corner to sit in, pop in my earbuds, and dine alone, but thatās not at all how it went.
First, I ordered at the counter, where the workers were very helpful, finding the best option for me, as well as the best spice level, given my Indiana upbringing. I opted for āMild Indian Spiceā (my own words), as I wanted some heat, while still being bearable. After I paid, I reached to my pocket for my buds, but already found myself bobbing my head to the Indian pop music they had playing. And the left wall had a massive Chiefs Dolphins game projected on it, so I sat smack dab in the middle and watched. There was very little wait before my food came out. And my oh my the portion was plentiful.
Iāve already talked about the flavor, but the spice is a whole nother story. Iām Korean, so Iāve a smidgeon of spice tolerance, but this dish had me sweatin. The chef came out to check on the spice, and Iāll tell ya the same thing I told him. It had heat, for sure, but not enough to take away from the flavor, which was exceptional.
Halfway through my meal I went back up front to order some more Roti, reached for my wallet, and my guy was like, nah bro, itās on me. So I gotta shout out my dude, Karthik, because his and everyone elseās service was top notch. Everyone there was really friendly, the vibes were on point, and most importantly, the food was FIRE. Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely an experience to remember. The dhai puri was sweet and tangy just how I imagined it back home, the sandwich was exquisite and I'm glad they served it with chips instead of fries. Much needed saltiness! The drink was nostalgic and was a nice touch. I wish their bathroom had regular nozzle spout instead of the multi stream, results in your entire wardrobe getting soaked while washing hands. They have halal options which is a bonus for all the Muslims like me with limited food choices in the area. Customer service was spot on, they spoke the same language as me and ensured I was well taken care of. After eating my entire meal I had to get some carry out because it was too good not to, I ended up getting a samosa chaat which I had for breakfast today and it was delectable. I tried their regular dhai lassi which was nice but next time mango will be the go to. They do add a bunch of nuts on top of the lassi, so if you don't like nuts like me then make sure to tell them to take it off. Will be back soon and look forward to trying more street food without the street...
