Iāve been here a handful of times and almost every experience is the same. Super friendly staff and good drinks. I prefer their refreshers over the coffee, but my boyfriend is a coffee fiend and enjoys whatever he ends up getting. The staff is able to recommend something based off of preferences. A huge drawback is the lack of pricing provided upfront until you order something and they put it in the computer. Theyāre not being transparent with prices. The only other issue Iāve experienced is one male worker who makes you feel bad for only getting a drink and nothing else. Asking a customer, āthatās it?ā and āyouāre not getting anything else?ā with a certain tone is not a good way to persuade customers into trying their pastries. When this happened the first time, I had relayed we already tried a pastry during our first trip here and I said it was very good. He replied with āit must not be THAT good..ā since we werenāt getting it again. Itās not funny, itās blunt and rude, and you wonāt get me to spend more money by talking like that. I understand employees are probably pushed to entice customers on ordering more, but there is a right and wrong way to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had stopped for their pastries. I noticed the Napoleon as I'm crazy about phyllo dough and patisserie cream in that format. I asked if it was homemade. I was assured it was as well as the rest of the pastries. We also ordered a green pastry, which was very tasty, and a chocolate biscotti. $20 total plus tax. Expensive for three little items and one very dry, unsweet (and not because less sugar is more), uncrispy, bland and tasteless as in no vanilla (the vanilla creme was laden with corn starch) The glazing was pretty at least. In all this Napoleon should also have been banned to the Island of Elba, where the real Napoleon spent his last years in exile! I would also send the biscotti to the same place for similar reasons. It was Sahara desert dry! It's too bad because as everyone says in other reviews the place is quite beautiful and smells great when you walk in. So for that two stars. I wasn't happy about spending $10 for a very mediocre, and that's putting it nicely, Napoleon. My advice is to quickly call a pastry chef from Quebec, Montreal, or Paris fly him over and show the bakers next door how to bake! What a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stopped in last week, as I work from home and needed a change of scenery. I came into MOTW Coffee & Pastries & was initially impressed! The lady working the counter was super kind. She welcomed me and helped me navigate the menu. I ordered a decaf vanilla latte and it was very good!
The ambiance is very modern and there is lots of space. I first chose to sit in a semi-private nook, but moved closer to the window. There was a speaker with somewhat loud music, that I politely asked if it could be lowered, but wasn't. So, I moved closer to the window to take my meeting. There must've been a gap in the wall. I had to put my jacket back on because it was freezing!
I also asked for a bathroom during my time there, and the coffee shop itself doesn't have a bathroom. It is shared with the next door restaurant and it was not clean at all.
This is a good place if you're looking to stop in for a quick cup of coffee, pastry, or a meetup with friends. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a...
