I wanted to like this place really bad since it's difficult to find good zabiha halal food in Indy. I went 30 minutes out of my way to try them.
The food was good, but definitely nothing to write home about. If it wasn't drenched in white sauce, it would have been almost enjoyable.
The samosas were not good at all, avoid those. I've had halal cart food all over the US and this was definitely not a standout.
I ordered one extra white sauce on the side which they instead drenched all over my food, so it was quite difficult to eat. I just wanted a normal amount of white sauce on my food, and one extra container on the side. It made the food inedible.
The biggest thing bothering me was the unfriendliness of the staff. I am a LGBT Pakistani American. I came here with my partner and family for some good food and vibes. I was very impressed with the decor and cleanliness of the restaurant. But the vibes of the staff were unfriendly, and I was not treated well by the cashiers. One of them was avoiding eye contact & was quite dismissive because I had the audacity to wear basketball shorts to their establishment.
We arrived well before closing time and there was a large family party still working on their food. We ordered dine-in and they gave us our food in plastic take out containers. Message received.
If you're doing business in Indy, you'll need to learn how to do business with people who come from all walks of life, yes, even LGBT Pakistanis. I was even questioned about my country of origin, and it was obvious what the cashier's motivations were. No, I'm not Indian. 😂
For anyone that's not part of the usual Pakistani Muslim crowd, especially my LGBT community in Indy, I'd skip this one. They are not welcoming.
Overall, this place is not worth the trip. There are much better options, including Chapati and Hyderabad House if you want good food and...
Read moreI got the mixed (lamb and chicken) salad, and the first bite took me by surprise because it was absolutely delicious! I was trying to be a little selective and stay on the healthier side by ordering a salad instead of several of the other very tasty looking items on their menu, so I didn't have ultra high expectations with what I ordered. Really I was just hoping that it would be somewhat decent. It was a TON of food and it was only $12 before tax. It was kind of a messy-looking dish, but who cares. The flavors and texture of my food blew my mind at how good it was! I will definitely be returning again, and possibly making this one of my regular spots. It was 95 degrees outside and I think the A/C was broken, which is why they had a fan set up, but I would assume that's just a...
