I just want to say that, for family outings and an affordable dining experience, Puccini's has been my go to restaurant for the last 15 years. The Humble Pie is always superb and the pasta is on point. That being said... Puccini's, what gives? Your current wait staff is possibly the worst I've ever seen it been in these last 15 years.
I recently dined in as a table of two, and didn't see a refill for the entire hour and a half. Not for lack of asking, just seemed to be carelessness on the server's part, to the point of the server appearing annoyed at our continuous requests for refills (which came with the check, and not in the requested to-go cups once we were ready to leave...)
We also ordered an extra basket of bread with our meals. Unfortunately, that basket didn't arrive until after we had finished eating, again after repeated requests. I can understand slow service during a rush; I myself have worked as a server. But the section we were dining in had 3 empty tables. And the restaurant seemed well staffed that night, so not really any excuse for shoddy service.
Finally, we had a to-go order placed that was prepared incorrectly (a shrimp pasta dish... with no shrimp?). Not too big a deal because we weren't in any rush, but again it seemed like carelessness on the part of the server (or the kitchen staff, but all the other food was on point).
The worst part isn't even the fact that there were slip-ups, I know that being a server can be stressful, it happens. But despite how poor the service was, we received no apology or understanding from our server. Being met with disjointed apathy and an annoyed attitude, simply because we were politely requesting what we had already ordered, is not acceptable.
And to top it off, at the end of it all, the table was swarmed by 1 or 2 other wait staff who were now suddenly available to take all our dirty dishes, without so much as asking if we were finished, or "how was the food?". This gave us the feeling that they cared more about shuffling us out the door than providing good service.
Now, if this had been my first negative experience with this sort of attitude at Puccini's in the past few months, I would've let it go. But this has been a repeat experience the last 3 or 4 times I've gone (and not just as a party of 2, but with birthday functions, parties of 6 or more, etc). If it was any other restaurant I probably wouldn't care, but Puccini's has always been one of my top picks.
Puccini's deserves 5 stars for the food, I will give them that any day of the week. But the family atmosphere I used to love that truly made Puccini's an excellent dining experience, seems to have been replaced by a bunch of apathetic busy-bodies who really don't take pride in their work, or making sure their customers are happy.
All in all, I'm just hoping that my next visit will live up to the Puccini's "Smiling...
Read moreI haven't been to Pucci at Ditch and 86th Street in a few years. I was so excited to be able to plan on getting my lunch there as I was at St. Vincent for a pre surgery appointment. The menu is very limited for lunch and that was not a issue because all I wanted is a salad and pizza. I thought it was great to see a lunch special with what I wanted plus a drink.I called to order ahead with Covid most places are carry out only. When I called I had to ask if I had the right number and was I speaking to someone at Puccini's. The employee who answered was very rude and had no interest in answering my questions like what dressing for the salad where they offering and what drink choices did I have. I really don't think that was to much to ask!! I was told 25 minutes for the daily lunch special to wich I thought was kind of a long wait but for Puccini's food I remember well worth my wait. When I went to get my order the lunch special was more then what the website menu's price but again I was fine with that. I was treated like I was a major inconvenience and I didn't see any other orders waiting for pickup, so it wasn't like I was holding up a line of people behind me. I didn't get my drink and honestly it wasn't worth asking for with how rude I was treated. The salad was good but did have alot of the white bitter pieces of the heart of the head of lettuce but the dressing made it ok the salad dressing was the best part of the meal. I have been a customer of this Puccini's since 1997 when I worked at Women's Hospital long before it became St Vincent's, we ordered often on evening shift for dinner. When ever I had out of state guests we always made it a point to take them to Puccini's and not 1 person in all the years of doing this didn't like Puccini's they all wanted to go again when visiting and my Dad lived 50 miles from Canada on the Minnesota side of Lake of the Woods and when he was planning to visit Indiana he always asked was that pizza place still around!! I gave a $5 tip on a $10 order thinks it's always best to be kind and I know with covid we are all struggling but I won't be back and I won't recommend this Puccini's and I wish I would have taken the advice of a person at the hospital to try Jett's Pizza! My daughter is 23 years old and I've been a huge fan of Puccini's since before she was born very sad to see a once great restaurant become what many chain restaurants become not worth your time you can have a frozen meal at home for less...
Read moreUPDATE!! After my daughter tagged Puccini’s in an Instagram post after she didn’t receive her food they reached out to her! They mailed her a birthday card with a gift card for several future meals. The manager also asked that she send them an email to tell them about her future experiences. I am changing the 1 Star to 3 stars due to their response.
I really don't know where to start. First, I do want to say I appreciate you being open and offering social distancing for order pick up. I do not want to sound ungrateful. However...on Saturday, May 2nd I did arrive to your restaurant very upset. The reason? This location has SUCCESSFULLY forgotten my daughter's food on her birthday for 3 years straight! I wish I was making this up! Three years ago, we went to your restaurant with a large family - everyone received their order except for my daughter. She sat there with no food. I brought it up to the waiter and she received her food 30 minutes after everyone else. The next year our family of four decided to go again. (We live close and we do enjoy your food!) And the 3 of us received our order and ONCE AGAIN she didn't! The waiter forgot to put the order in! So this year I left it up to her to decide on a restaurant. She wasn't sure but then for the life of me - I am not sure why - she said she would give Puccini a try once more. I was almost laughing when she said Puccini's. We tried calling but only received a busy signal so we ordered through Grub HUB. I AM NOT JOKING when I say this. We received the order - my husband, son and I - each had a pizza. I also had a salad. My daughter ordered a pasta dish, with breadsticks and salad. I opened the bag and everything was there - but you guessed it. My daughter's food was missing- with the exception of the breadsticks. WHAT IS THE DEAL? I rushed out and drove to Puccini's and I was angry. RIGHTFULLY so. The manager gave me her food that was sitting up on a shelf and a salad. We ARE DONE with going to your restaurant. It is bad on us for even giving it a try for 3 birthdays in a row. (Yes we look like the crazy ones for doing so.) It was her 15th birthday, no party, quarantine - she was having a good day. But this notably shook her, she was very upset and frankly I cannot hardly believe this scenario myself. I tell her we have to laugh about this later. It has become a tradition. ...
