I would like to rate this higher than two stars... I really would. Encourage reading this cause it’s definitely not all bad! I like Mexican restaurants and was excited when Red Cactus opened. The Food is generally good, however the quality control is quite weak. The two times I have dined in (pre-corona), the food was great. However, I always order the same thing, and the portion size varies greatly from visit to visit. I have only eaten here a total of 5 times, 2 dine-in and 3 takeouts. I’ve had them leave items out of Togo orders twice. On the last visit I was overcharged. When I called it to their attention, they told me they entered the wrong item in the computer but they were the same price. When I opened the menu on my phone to show the cashier that was not accurate, she informed me the menu online was old and had not been updated (cheaper, so they have raised prices, which is understandable considering COVID and meat cost) but when she pulled out the new paper menu, my point was made and I was indeed overcharged. She immediately offered me a drink to make up for the difference, and I said I’d prefer to just be charged the right amount. When I asked if they could just void and recharge I was told it was a complicated process. Then they proceeded to try to remove it from the tip jar which I refused. In the end I was refunded the overcharge in cash but wasn’t a great experience. Wont be ordered takeout again. Top recommendations to the staff and manager: listen to the caller more closely to get the order right, drive quality and portion control in the kitchen, and properly train your front of house staff to handle customer needs. I want this restaurant to succeed! The food and atmosphere are good when things are on....
Read moreWe were staying at the hotel connected to the restaurant. We went in for a drink, appetizers, and a good dinner. The server was pretty obviously new but was great! We were a little scattered since one of us left their ID in the hotel room. While he ran to get it I decided on appetizers and a drink for me. When my friend got back he got a margarita and we ordered dinner. He went to take a taste of my drink and immediately the manger came up and freaked out about not having two drinks in front of him. I understand that’s a law so I quickly took my drink back and apologized. For the next ten minutes the manager stood a few feet from our table and watched and listened to everything we did. Another server came to our table. As I was about to ask for our dinner to be packed to go, she informed us that our dinner and appetizers would be packed to go. That server and manager continued to stand right by our table for the remainder of the time. We were happy, kind, and understanding. Being watched at a restaurant is highly uncomfortable. We were there to enjoy a meal and chat. No part of our time was private. There was no reason for the extreme behavior on the managers part. I’ve served for over a decade and am very understanding towards staff and their jobs. Being told we had to leave and that our food was already being packed up to go was rude, unnecessary, and unprofessional. Especially with no reason given. The food was ok. But the ribs that were ordered had been cooked in plastic. It was wrapped in plastic as if it had been prepped and set aside until it was ordered. The plastic was melted to parts of the ribs. The appetizers were incorrect as well. The entirety of everything was a...
Read moreWriting negative reviews is hard for me. I try to eat local and post positive and not be nit picky. I have renewed this review every six months because I want to believe in the little guy. After my last two visits I will never return to this establishment. Successful business have a great product and great customer service, which should include simple conflict resolution. I have worked customer facing jobs and understand the unreasonableness of many. However tonight I took my family to the restaurant and ordered a kids portion of arroz con pollo for my eight year old. It is her go to as we eat here probably twice month. Tonight the plate seemed bigger but not being an employee I didn't think too much of it until I put most of it in a take home container. When the bill came instead of being 8.99 it was 13.99. I talked to the gentleman at the register and he was admit he could not fix it since she ate some of it and we did not bring it to the attention of the waitress earlier. So for me I'm done. Customer service is important. Maybe a dollars worth of extra rice served by the restaurant and my paying five dollars to them is enough. I often tell people the best place to go in FT is Red cactus. No more. Last year I spent over 2 thousand dollars there. No more. I wish them well, and hope they realize the importance of customers before the razor thin margins of restaurants can alienate the small community that is FT. PS it's still super clean, fast, and good. Just sucks they don't...
