Tried this place for Valentine's Day after seeing all of the comments and it was honestly really hard to think of how to rate it. There is a lot of good and a lot of bad so sorry for the long review in advance. The bad: The service was unfortunately abysmal. To give them credit, it was Valentine's Day and they were short-staffed. Based on some of the other comments, it seemed like they are fairly slow a lot of the time so it was probably a pretty busy night. However, we put in our drink requests after being seated and did not get them until after being there for around 40 minutes. They seemed to be prioritizing online orders much more than the diners in the restaurant which was frustrating to say the least. I think they are a newer business, as they didn't have any alcohol on the menu and it seemed like they were still figuring a few things out with the dining space and assembly of online orders. The lighting was a bit intense/bright which is a pretty specific critique, I just think softer lighting would help out a ton. Not sure if this is always the case, but they had very soft music playing that was putting me and my girlfriend to sleep while waiting for our order to be taken/drinks/food. I think it has a lot of potential but I'm not a critic by any stretch so to each their own.
The good: The food was absolutely incredible. Everything we had was amazing. The drinks were delicious, miso soup was salty but not too salty. The ginger salad was simple and light and refreshing. The crab rangoon was fried to perfection and the filling was incredible. The sushi was to die for. We got the White Russian, Mango Salmon, and Hakuna Matata rolls. Every single one of them tasted fresh, tasted delicious, and were beautifully prepared and presented. The fish was delicious, the fruits and statement flavors nailed, and all of the rolls felt substantial and like they brought something unique to the menu. AND the price was fantastic. This was the cheapest sushi we have had in the greater Indianapolis area and definitely the best or close to it. 3 specialty rolls, a specialty drink, and three appetizers was under 60 dollars before tip. There's probably something out there that is better but I haven't seen it. The quality was insanely good for the price and that is why it is so hard to rate this place. Honestly, I think if we came on any other day, it would be slower and we would probably get taken care of a lot faster and better. And I think the food is absolutely worth a try if you are in the area. All in all, I would say this place is absolutely worth your time to try out but I think that they need to find their...
Read moreVery quiet dining room, very clean. Little too quiet? Some background music would be perfect. Seating is wherever you prefer, and we were the only two there!
Our server was excellent and made sure we were tended to throughout the dinner.
Miso soup and salad were free. Soup was a little lackluster, but the salad was good. We ordered fried dumplings, which were solid. The dipping sauce was actually a bit different, in a good way. Couldn't quite pick out what the secret ingredient was, but it gave a nice, subtle sweetness. Maybe lemongrass?
We both ordered two rolls. I got the roll with mango and the OMG roll. Both were very good and all ingredients seemed fresh. The mango was delightful! Can't remember what rolls milady ordered, but both had spicy tuna and were also quite nice. The spicy tuna also seemed like it had a little different zest to it, which we both enjoyed.
Overall, food was 4.5/5, service 5/5, and atmosphere was a 3.5/5. Will be visiting again and would recommend...
Read moreSakura Spice had been on our radar for months, thanks to my partner's discovery and a glowing recommendation on Indy Foodie's page. But it wasn't until today that we finally made time to check it out—and let me tell you, we’re kicking ourselves for not visiting sooner!
Their lunch special is an absolute steal: three generously-sized sushi rolls for under $13. Beyond the sushi, we opted for the General Tso’s chicken with fried rice, and the meal also included a crisp salad and comforting miso soup. Every bite was a testament to the incredible quality and freshness of their ingredients.
The flavors were phenomenal, and it’s safe to say this is now our favorite spot for lunch in town. If you're searching for a place that offers exceptional food at an unbeatable price, Sakura Spice is the place to be....
