Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Indianapolis

I had been having nothing but issues that I said nothing about everytime I went to steak n shake. Till one night I went to one on the way home and the waitress and other employees ignored I was there on a Friday night at 1130 ish. She was listening to her phone headphones and sweeping. Finally she paused her phone long enough to say to me that they were closing the inside for the night. I pointed out that this was a 24 hr place and she told me well I'm the last waitress I'm going home. I complained to steak n shake they finally had someone call me and turns out that location did get closed by the time they contacted me. The man who talked to me was nice and he sent me a gift card and I really had no plans to ever use it but my daughter was at the dr most of the night and I needed to get her food asap. So my husband myself and our daughter came in for dinner. Immediately I see the woman from the old location and surprise surprise shes once again listening to her headphones. We finally get seated once a crowd forms behind us. She takes our drink orders and then food orders. We get the food and the check and never see her again till we are about to leave. We all needed refills but just said screw it instead. My daughter wanted a shake I ordered her one and myself one as we paid which an employee who was clocked out and trying to leave had to ring us up cause no one else could be bothered. My husband had to use the bathroom before we left and he had to clean the toilet before he could use it. We had to ask them for the shakes and they still had not been made. When we got them and I was driving home I noticed the cheesecake in the shake was stale and nasty so I tossed it. Now there were employees working their butts off Like the grill cook I'd assume based off what he was wearing he came out and cleared tables and was never taking a moment to rest. He was one of the few who werent on their phones or standing around talking not working. That and one of the waitresses on top of the one who checked me out that was clocked off was doing a great job she had a few tables one of which was a family of 10 who some spoke English some did not. I did not spend the whole amount on the gift card they sent me as an I'm sorry try us again. And I never plan to. I am not one to complain but it just finally got to the point that I was done with them and said something and since I'm past that point I'm saying it again. 2-27-18 9pm give or take, sat down with my husband and friends to eat. They told us a 30 minutes wait, while my friemds were outside smoking i noticed someone come in and yell call 911, a man had been stabbed multiple times and crashed his car in the lot, opened the car door and fell on the ground. My husband and his uncle were witnesses to the crime and were asked to stay to give statements. My friend and I went back in and were trying to eat, our waitress a lady named rachel McCoy, was literally the rudest waitress ive ever met in my life. She made rude comments everytime we asked her for something, was never ONCE oferred a refill. My salad was missing and when we asked for it she replied "shouldnt have been outside" she focused on one customer the whole time, a man she was flirting with that she gave her numbdr too. Our husband were in a police car for 45 minutes waiting to give statements, when they finally came in, we asked for THEIR food to be remade and she replied "nope doubt they will" i tried explaining that they were forced by police to sit in a car and wait and it wasnt their fault and she said _"better ask a manager" then she very loudly went up to the manager and yells "they want the food re!ade because its cold because they wsre outside being drama seekers" I was LIVID so I approach the manager and state my complaint in fromt of her, and she turns aaround and sticks her tounge out and then starts to ARGUE with me right in front of the manager, who says absolutely nothiwmg to her. Needless to say, im a very frequent customer who will NEVER be returning to steak n shake and e Washington...

I was watched by two employees while waiting to be seated quite a while. Will try to keep my children occupied until we can be seated. The other employee that came from the back and wash your hands was the one that came out to see us. The other two ignored us. Once seated I order was taking promptly. The food was terrible. I ordered a Frisco melt with an extra Patty. I got a regular Frisco melt with almost no thousand island dressing on it. The meat was rubbery. The fries were cold for all of us. Children's grilled cheese was barely acceptable. I had to flag down the waitress for a refill on my drink. After the food was brought she brought us check and didn't come back until I managed to wave her down for the refills. The cashier decided to turn to take an order at the counter when it was our turn to pay. It was most likely the other customer turn to order however she just walked off and took the order.
