Uncommon Grounds — Restaurant in Indianola

I don't usually take the time to review any bad experiences based on one time experience but...... I was treated so disrespectful and yelled at by the owner and her mother! I went in to try this place for the first time. I ordered a simple chicken salad in a croissant. There was one order ahead of mine. The owner was standing with what seemed to be a new employee. They were playing with a young child who was hiding in a cabinet at the front counter. The mother was making two sandwiches for the customers in front of me. I understand totally serving customers as they order. This was not the problem as the owner and mother seemed to only address once I asked if I could get my sandwich to go. The mother was extremely slow and had not even completed ONE sandwich after waiting for sometime. As a customer I feel serving your customers in a timely manner especially when they only have a certain amount of time for lunch is important. I've been in the food service industry for over 35 years, our number one priority is to serve our customers as quickly as possible with quality food and kindness. The mother was microwaving some bacon and while the microwave was on she stood and watched it instead of starting the next sandwich. Time management and multitasking in a restaurant is one of our top priorities for our customers. Once I asked for my sandwich to go I actually got yelled at by the owner!!!!!!!!! I was so appalled by her response to my needs as her customer and her feeling playing with a child and not helping with making the orders was more important and I was in the wrong. This is so unprofessional that I will never be returning to this place again. I am glad that I see others have had a nice visit and I wish them well as a business but please always remember that your customers should be your number one priority and getting them served in a timely and friendly manner not being yelled at when you ask for your sandwich to go. I wish I had recorded all the nasty things they spoke to me. It was like they didn't even care that I needed to get back to work. I finally after being verbally attacked asked for...

Enjoying walking around " The Square" , when I stumbled upon Uncommon Grounds Coffee House. Came in to be welcomed by a traditional coffee house feel.

Walking through your pleasantly surprised by the cozy, welcome to my living room vibes. The fun family games made it extremely exciting to think about coming in again with my boys OR kids in general.

Opened up 2 weeks ago, the current owners, 2 sisters; have hired on Mom. This charismatic bunch! Y'all have gotta stop by for the flavor of the week! THIS week the flavor is Amaretto Royale Medium to dark roast, the smell makes you think it's going to be a very flavorful coffee. This is a coffee LOVERS coffee. That bold coffee coming through with more of an earthy almond Amaretto flavor than the cherry....

Overall fairly excellent experience with this establishment. The refreshments are well prepared and the baristas are knowledgeable in the food and drinks they make (A majority of the time).

However, when a drink is made incorrectly, their willingness and determination to fix the error is extremely reputable and rather fantastic.

This simple thing turns what would be a 3 star review into a 4 star. As their customer service exceeds my expectations. Their drinks are nothing to write home about.
