I have always "Please wait to be seated" at Denny's; however, these folks curiously asked, "Can I help you?" (Dear reader, I am unsure to this day if it were a dream or verifiable fact. So you must be warned; the events I am about to describe may rewrite greasy-spoon breakfast and dinner as we know it!)
Now, normally the sun has just come up and I'm pondering how I should Build my Slam while the smell of fresh coffee awakens my senses. Today, as my pace quickened accross the parking lot so to did the darkness of night. (Let us return to the server and read those words again.)
"Can I help you?"
My mind raced. Was Denny's no longer a restaurant, did hipsters gentrify this into a Shared Space had they changed from the time I opened the door to when I walked in?
A quick look around reassured me that food was indeed being served and eaten. Still slightly confused I replied, "I would like to sit and eat dinner." Reassuringly the server said with a grin, " Well, you've come to the right place." I can't say for certain but I my have let out an audible sigh of relief.
Daringly I let all things Slam remain a breakfast item; favouring instead a hot grilled sandwich: The Super Bird.
The bread was certainly grilled, replete with buttery crispness. French fries shared the same crisp affect. But the sandwich as a whole, even though it was cut in half, was Super in name only...
(By now we have grown close and referring to you as 'reader' just seems impersonal. So, "Friend" I would like to take a moment to assure you the big reveal of a two star rating for an International American Icon is forthcoming, tout de suite!)
As I eagerly bit off the acute angle of my halved grilled sandwich I rejoiced in the warm buttery outer layer as it effortlessly slid to my stomach. The second bite was equally rich with buttery decadence. But wait! What was this?
How could this crispy, greasy, super birdy of a sandwich be so warm and inviting while simultaneously cradling frigid innards? (My dearest friend, I was just as shocked as you are now! How could this be? Was it pre-made, frozen and only now thawed upon the grill ? Perhaps climate change causing a severe cold spell, in the desert?)
I decided to open my two-bite bird and could not believe my eyes. Rubbing them I looked again and still saw the cleanest turkey a Super Bird had ever seen. Not even one 'oops forgot the turkey' char mark upon this regal foul flesh.
That's right, my sandwich likely started off as a grilled cheese and at the last minute imitated a Super Bird.
From now on I'll simply have to "Please wait to be seated" as I wake up to the smell of coffee and ponder how I'll...
Read moreAfter having a bad experience a couple of days ago at this location. I reached out to corporate and spoke to the district manager in which she reached out to me for follow up, which I thought was awesome. Her name was Tiana Garcia if I'm not mistaken, super professionaldistrict manager and totally took care of me and my family and made sure that she held on to good customers of many years. I went back today a very nice young lady/server by the name of Rosie was there again today and I have to mention that the day I had a bad experience Rosie was the best person on the shift and things could've went a lot worse if Rosie was not there. She is a sweetheart. Also, a young lady by the name of Julissa was also present and went out of her way to make sure that our experience was perfect after a few minutes and after our meal, we were also greeted by the store manager, Andrea or Adriana not sure what her name is. I have to apologize But also very professional and made sure that was comped and most importantly that we were treated right. Danny's diner wins in my book, even after my bad experience. Thank you so much to the entire team of district manager store manager, most important to the servers who are on duty who really turned my My experience around denny's diner Indio,...
Read moreI had ordered on the app to pick up curbside. Once I got to the restaurant, I called and let them know I was outside for my order. A girl answers the phone and says ok, but never confirms that my order will be out or anything. She just hangs up after saying ok. So I waited for ten minutes and no one comes out. I called the restaurant and no one picks up the phone. About two minutes later, a waitress comes out and asked if I was curbside. I said yes and she tells me that one of the girls was scared to come outside to hand me my food. Once the waitress talked to me, she went inside and another girl with my food comes out. She was wearing a grey top which was different from the waitress who was all in black. I’m not sure if this was the girl that was scared to come out but I waited over ten minutes to get my food to my car. The food was ok we had two burgers one came with onion rings and the other with fries. The fires were stale and hard which was very disappointing. I had also ordered biscuit and gravy but the biscuit was hard as a rock. Plus, I had ordered four sausages but three of them were either very over cooked, or they have been sitting out for a while because they were semi-chewy like rubber. The whole thing was a bad experience and I don’t think I...
